UPDATE 1/2025 - Generals chicken, no kick to it and very, very, over sauced. Rangoons still ok, but nothing here has been as good as 2+ years ago. I got my coworkers to go here again. We all agree, this was our last order here. They also think it has changed and went downhill.
UPDATE:9/6/24. Something has changed with this place over the last few months. I get food here often but the last 6 or 7 months, something has changed. Maybe a different chef? Menu is the same, but food has different taste. Rangoons have been over cooked on all my last orders (filling is still real good), lo mein was very oily, chicken fingers seem smaller and not as "fluffy" and other menu items have been burnt, watery, no flavor, etc. My co-workers will no longer eat here, but to me, I will just try other places (new place going in practically next door and others just down the road) and still keep this in the mix.
UPDATE: 10/8/23. Seems to be getting a little inconsistent. Normally would highly recommend the rangoons, today they were so under cooked and doughy-like. Another time a few months ago they were also not up to par, so this seems to be a hit or miss situation now. Also today's Crispy Orange Flavored Shrimp was a dud and not as described on the menu. No flavor or heat(spice). The only orange flavor was if you actually eat the couple of pieces of the peel that are mixed in the sauce, which was way too much therefore the shrimp was soggy and not crispy. The bed of peapods it was to be served on. . . where was that? There was 8 pieces of broccoli, 4 under the shrimp, 4 on top and 4 very small, narrow peapods on the top. So much for "on a bed of peapods". Ordered the dish for the CRISPY shrimp and PEAPODS only and was a huge letdown. Downgrading to 3 stars. Hate to do this as I thought this restaurant was going to be my favorite for a while! oh, and I wish the woman at the counter would at least smile and say thanks for coming in or something, she seems miserable. Twice out of at least twenty times I have delt with another woman, maybe Alice?, that was very pleasant and personable.
Original review from 2022: Best crab rangoons I've had in ages! Nice amount of filling with slight onion taste with the cream cheese and crab bits. Have had a few of the different lunch specials, to go, in the past 6 months. Fried rice is a hit or miss, sometimes it has been too hard, so I now opt for the white rice or lo mein which both have been good. Sweet and sour chicken (or chicken fingers) is excellent, nice batter, not real greasy, general's chicken good, boneless ribs are good, not really any fat on them. Orange beef and the shrimp with cashews were both ok, I probably wouldn't get either again as there are other things that were so much better. Again, the crab rangoons...
Read moreToday I decided to take my friend and my 7 year old son to Mandarin Taste for early dinner. While waiting for our order the waitress yelled at my son for taking a paper mat to draw on. She yelled “ those are for plates not for drawing” during our meal, my son picked up a basket that was on our table and looked at its patterns and designs. He was asking us what was made of and if it was weaved. The waitress was casually walking by our table and snatched the basked off his hands and walked away with it. We were all shocked and confused. My son with tears in his eyes asked why did she do that. I talked to here and she raising her voice and talked over me. Definitely not a kids friendly restaurant This is a place where I would never take my family, friends or...
Read moreA favorite local food spot, "Alice's" Mandarin Taste has been around forever, and one of the few commercial entities to have survived for so long in Sharon center. If that alone doesn't speak to the quality, here are some breakdowns.
Positives: -Does delivery, take out, and eat in -Plenty of access to parking in a safe area -Subjectively, the best Chinese food I and many others have ever had -Food is not only made quickly, but uses fresh ingredients.
Negatives: -Its popularity can make it quite busy during the evening hours, especially...
