Sly's Midtown Saloon and Grill — Restaurant in Sheboygan

My customer review for Sly's is a real mixed bag. My wife and I stopped by for breakfast. Our initial impression was that it was a nice welcoming physical venue. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, the entire inside smelled like an ashtray. We were very confused since we were under the impression that indoor smoking was not allowed in Wisconsin. I actually had to change my shirt when I got home because the flannel had picked up the smell. Under normal circumstances I would have just turned around and immediately left, but my wife wanted to try the food. Hardly an auspicious beginning.

I had the breakfast burrito which I thought was very good. My wife had the omelet skillet. That is where the dining experience went "off the rails". The omelet was fine, but the hash browns were incredibly salty! Absolutely uneatable! We assumed the top came off the salt shaker and dumped the entire contents on the hash browns. Very disappointing indeed.

We mentioned the saltiness to the bartender/waitress, but she really didn't react in any identifiable fashion. Outside of her indifference to our complaint about the food, I would have to admit that the service, on the whole, was friendly.

Unfortunately, the good aspects of our visit did not outweigh the bad. We will not...

Went to Sly's on a friday evening to get something to eat while entertaining an out of town relative. Never went in there before but we were in the area. We had a designated driver and he was kicked out because he didn't want a drink. In fact the bartender was screaming at us at the thought that anyone would come in there and not have a drink. So we all left but as we were walking out we had empty bottles thrown at us from behind and I was attacked and my earrings were ripped right out of my ears and stollen. We needed to go to hospital emergency room to have stitches. The bartender also called the cops on us for spilling our drinks on the bar after asking for are money back because we didn't even take 1 sip before being told to leave. Our driver walked out without an argument but was also hit from behind and had his glasses broken and he did nothing, absolutely nothing to deserve this and was told by police he couldn't return. Really, do you think we would ever come near that place. Oh ya, had to pay a disorderly conduct fine besides. Wow everyone I told his to said why would you go in that place. You only go there if you want to get in a fight or are looking for drugs. Didn't know that but I do now. An expensive...

Tried to place a to go order for 15 minutes. The bartender guy told me i have to wait for his bartender to come in as she was running late. Then he proceeded to take the only other person who was in the bars order. I asked him for a second time for a menu which he promtply set out menus. I waited about 8 more minutes to complete the 15 minute time i spent there. No one took my order. When the bartender arrived the man told her i was ready to order. She went to talk to her coworkers for that whole 8 minutes. At least my drink was strong.

Update: I went back for drinks instead of food this time. I waited for 25 minutes while I watched other customers who had just walked through the door and sat on both sides of me at the bar and they still got helped first. I had to yell for him because he kept walking past me. I will give the place one more chance in case it was just an...
