I moved to VT from Arlington, VA Oct 2021 and have since struggled to find the kind of Chinese food I'm accustomed to enjoying. Besides one other place, Chef Leu's House hit the spot!
I picked this placed based on an article from SevenDays and because Mandarin and Single Pebble weren't open for lunch. However, when arriving we saw the sign on the front door saying they are still only doing Take Out. As we started to walk away, Ronnie came out and invited us in to dine inside.
Ronnie was super friendly and more than accommodating. He explained how to order online and to indicate we were dining in. I ordered the Szechuan beef which was shredded and spicy, which is what I am used to back in VA.
He also shared some of his personal candies and snacks from Japan. He hopes to provide the dine in option again very soon now that the weather is getting warmer again.
Please stop in when they do! Until then, takeout via online. Everything...
Read moreEasy access from the main travel corridor, ample parking, and no wait. The menu has a wide selection, including many good vegetarian options. My wife and I enjoyed our food. We were hoping for something with a little more authentic feel compared to the usual American-style Chinese/Asian reataurants. This was definitely more upscale than an all-you-can-eat buffet, but didn't seem all that authentic or exotic. Many of the menu choices are what you might expect at those other restaurants: Sesame Chicken, Stir fry with noodles, etc. With a few exceptions. My wife ordered Pad Thai Shrimp and I had the House Special Duckling, extra spicy. It was hardly spicy at all and resembled a common saucy stir fry from an American-Style Asian place, except it had tasty morsels of roast duck.
In short, it had good atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food, though this is probably not the place to go to for a unique and ethnic...
Read moreWas craving Chinese food and thought I would try Chef Leu's House. Food arrived fairly quickly and the food was still hot. We ordered beef with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken,House Special fried rice, and House Special Low Mein. I have to say that the beef and broccoli and House Special Low Mein were spot on. But the House Special fried rice lack color. To me it looked like white rice mixed with peas, carrots, and baby shrimp. The Sweet and Sour Chicken could've have been served with green bell peppers and white onions in the sweet and sour sauce along with the pineapple. But it didn't and in the sweet and sour sauce was pineapple and cherries which is very different for me to see. The restaurant could've left out the cherries because the sweet and sour sauce was tasty enough with pineapple only. The real down fall here was the sweet and sour sauce and that some of the cherries had their stems...
