Rustic Roots is our most favorite restaurant in Shelburne. We love everything about it: the vibe, the ambiance, the people, and, of course, the creative eclectic offerings. Our most recent dinner with friends was just as delightful as our previous experiences at RR. The winter menu choices are abundant and diverse. We loved loved loved the smoked tomato soup, the pates and the terrine (all made in house by Chef Mike), the escargots, and the chicken under the brick. Surrounded by the warmth and attention generously offered by co-owner Ashley and her wonderful staff and by extremely creative Heart Show art pieces decorating the walls, we didn't want to leave! Definitely a culinary gem that will win your heart, so leave your inner critic at home and enjoy an fantastic gourmet meal at Rustic Roots!

A New Year's Feast!!! We were so happy to learn that our favorite craft eatery was putting together a New Year's Eve menu! In these unusual and somewhat awkward times, it takes even more talent and determination to create an enjoyable offering for a special occasion. We were super excited to be among a small group of NYE diners in Rustic Roots' cozy and wonderfully arranged dining room that night. Mike and Ashley once again put together a signature feast! A deligtful visually appealing journey of the palate, for sure! We loved every dish! A cold smoked duck breast, chicken confit, scallops, petit filet mignon, and a chocolate hazelnut torte were the main performance in this gourmet variety show of culinary finesse. Thank you for another fantastic experience, Rustic Roots! 👏👏👏🥳🥰

If you like brunch, this is the spot for you! The interior was charming, small and inviting. There was a mix up with reservations, but the staff were quick to resolve the issue and get us seated, now for the food...We got the baked apple pancake for the table. It was massive, fluffy, and not too sweet. The popovers were perfectly fluffy and eggy but what really caught my attention was the homemade marmalade. Its SPECTACULAR! Spiced perfectly to balance out the sweet and tangy flavors. the maple coffee sausage wasnt spectacular, but certainly not bad. My main dish was the monte cristo. It was amazing. Very filling, loaded with thick cut ham and rich local cheese! 10/10 would recommend!

My partner and I visited for brunch this morning. While the food was overall excellent, there were a few things that are keeping it from a 5 star rating from us.

Items ordered: Brioche French toast, Breakfast in Jersey, popover

Pros: The quality of the food was phenomenal. Fresh and hot. The French toast was flavorful and sweet, almost perfect. The breakfast sandwich was flavorful and the portion size was good. I can confidently say the homefries were the best I've ever had, and I've had a ton of homefries over the years across New England Waitstaff is very friendly, hard working, and accomodating Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food; much less than I've paid at far worse places!

Cons: Wait times were VERY high. When we arrived around 11:15, we were quoted at 30 minutes but got in sooner. The couple after us was quoted at 50-70 minutes. If you're going to come, her here early if you can The breakfast sandwich didn't say it came with homefries, so my partner ordered a side of them instead, but it ended up coming with them anyway. So we got incurred a charge that could have been avoided The popover was unfortunately overcooked and was supposed to come with marmalade but did not Only a few Waitstaff which can make service a bit slow. This place would run much more efficiently if they hired on another waiter.

Overall: We would absolutely come back I would recommend Rustic Roots to anyone in the area looking for a nice breakfast, even if you have to go a bit out of the way. If they can fix up the few issues mentioned, it would be an...

Meh. Beautiful location. Nice atmosphere. Food was meh. Wait staff was really nice.

Updated review: I initially didn't plan to write a detailed review, but the owner's response prompted me to share my experience. After I described the food as 'meh', the owner insulted me by suggesting I should stick to McDonald's. The truth is, neither meal had any flavor; both were bland, overcooked, and overpriced. Even the Bloody Mary lacked flavor, and I had to add hot sauce to make it palatable. The service was extremely slow and inefficient, likely due to poor management.

I wouldn't recommend this place, nor would I return. The owner's insulting response to my feedback—despite my praise for the setting and atmosphere—speaks volumes about their attitude toward customers. My McDonald's comment was meant as a joke, but it turns out, you’re not even at that level. You're just a restaurant with a beautiful setting and a nice atmosphere...

Absolutely amazing food. Seriously, everything they put on the table is cooked to perfection and is of the highest quality. The last time we were in we said of the bar and we're able to watch some of the kitchen work. My wife is a world class food services professional and knows quality cooking like no other. Last time we were set up bar and we're able to watch some of the activity in the kitchen. The kitchen staff clearly has exceptional standards and takes great pride in their work.

So why only four stars? While the service was also very good, the front of how staff was unmasked. This is inappropriate with omicron going around even assuming they are all fully boosted. People with higher risks or regular contact with such, beware.

Otherwise, you can't find better breakfast food. I'm looking forward to trying their lunch food...
