My review is coming from a Facebook post of the owner publicly shaming someone for complaining at her business. Although she didn’t say names, I find it very distasteful.
So, I went and read the reviews with only one star to see how she handled the complaints. I found the response (every single one)very distasteful as well. Defending and “excuses” for every single complaint posted.
Also, while reading a response to a complaint regarding a customer not liking the tea, your response was that - it was good, “from the day before”. That tea could have bad and could have also developed a bacteria 🦠. E. coli can begin growing in tea very quickly. Per the Board Of Health, Iced Tea should be quickly iced after brewed. If stored in a refrigerator it should be thrown out after 8 hours and if left out of the fridge it should be thrown out after 4 hours.
Some people complain to complain. That’s a part of the business and dealing with the public unfortunately.
Going back and reviewing tapes to later respond the review calling them out making them look like a liar because they didn’t order a specialty drink after complaining about the “specialty” drink menu??? Come on! Obviously their expectations couldn’t be met, so they went for something else. You didn’t have a problem with them paying for the alternative! Makes me wonder if the owners and employees gossip about their patrons once they leave.
Complaints open doors for learning opportunities. .
I’ve been in this bar 3 times too many!
And if it’s any consolation at all, I will not be back to check out the response from my review. I don’t care what people think or have to say. I do, however love standing up for...

Capes Downtown Speakeasy Bar is hands down one of the coolest bars I’ve visited in the South Indianapolis area. It’s got a unique, gangster-style vibe that makes the whole experience feel like you’re stepping back in time. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is spot-on, and the decor really sets the mood.
The drinks were poured perfectly, and the quality of the cocktails was impressive. As for the food, it was even better than I expected. I ordered the Clyde sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious—packed with flavor and prepared just right. But what really stole the show for me were the pretzel bites with nacho cheese. They were some of the best I’ve ever had! Soft, warm, and paired with a creamy, flavorful cheese dip.
What’s also great about Capes is the value. For the quality of food and drinks, the prices are extremely reasonable. I left feeling like I had an amazing experience without breaking the bank. Overall, this place is a true hidden gem in South Indianapolis, and I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the menu. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re...
