Saw ad for $10 bucket of chicken, sounded good. To get sale price, online order was only way. So I ordered a $10 bucket of chicken and large side of Cole slaw. At the start of order, I had picked the KFC at New Castle, Indiana. I got up there, and order was not there. I looked into order on cell phone and found it was sent to the Shelbyville KFC, although I had carefully chosen the NC store. Since I was already in New Castle, I started punching up same order online and lo and behold, the order switched right in front of my eyes to the Shelbyville store! So that made sense how the mistake happened. Why it worked that way is unexplained. I'm sure if I had never ordered online at Shelbyville, it wouldn't have happened, but for KFC's online ordering system to switch like that without any popup asking if this is correct is beyond reasonable. My final order confirmation did say Shelbyville, but at that point the focus of any average customer would be on order correctness, food and price. I'm sure most people would not have caught error, as the digital order switched it in mid-stream, a thing nobody would expect. I called Shelbyville store, attempting to cancel order, only to be told that the online ordering system has nothing to do with their store, that they have no connection to orders or way to cancel orders. OK, then. So right then I tried to contact online ordering operation, then tried 4 times the next day, put on hold with the most cacophonic elevator music imaginable, but never reached a representative. A few days later I was in Shelbyville for other reasons, decided to get more info at Shelbyville store. I asked manager, man in his 30's I am guessing, with disgusting nose ring. Upon telling him about issue at hand, he says, yeah, I talked to when tried to cancel and online ordering is completely separate from his operation. So I explained how it was difficult to reach anyone at online ordering, asked if had a better # to call. (thought about it later, didn't specify what # I called), but he walked back to office, came out about 30 seconds later and said no. My next question was, could not this be fixed by just giving me a bucket of chicken that day. He shot that down fast and I asked him why that's not possible. I had been absolutely respectful and cordial in my question. He replied, "Because I don't give away FREE chicken"!?!?!? I lost it at this point. I said, "Free Chicken, my bank card was charged and your store received the money. I'm not asking for anything free!" So I told him how I hadn't worked hard all my life till retirement only to be treated as someone asking for a handout and called him a moron. (I'm not proud of that remark, but I say it fit). He was enraged, told me to leave and I immediately did, but he followed me close behind, angrily asserting how I was banned from coming back. He was so close it was frightening, it about seemed he was going to get physical while he repeated over and over that I was banned. I retorted, "Don't worry, why WOULD I ever come back to this worthless operation?" His demeanor and aggressiveness was uncalled for and excessive. If I had hesitated and stood arguing perhaps, but as I immediately was leaving, chasing after me angrily was poor. I decided I wasn't going to waste anymore time on hold phoning KFC, that it wasn't worth $15. I just decided that KFC at any location would never get any more business from me. If I wanted Chicken as such, I will go to a Lee's Fried Chicken, but better I will be motivated to cook chicken at home with healthy methods and skip fried chicken fried in low-quality oils high in Omega-6 anyway. So, by this horrible Manager's accounting methods, it was my loss, his gain. Since he knew I wouldn't pick up order, he obviously sold that chicken, and incurred no loss with that chicken. Wow, isn't online ordering great, I deleted all restaurant apps from phone, except for Cracker Barrel, they seem offer great customer...
Read moreWhat an awful experience, my husband and I walked in, there was one customer in the store and maybe 1 or 2 cars in the drive thru, We were greeted with instructions to use the kiosk to place our orders as they were "too busy". We tried to use it but the coupon we were using was not on there, so we asked what we should do and one woman came up to the register to ring us up saying it wasn't on those. Then I told her what we wanted this coupon was for a 20 piece of chicken or chicken tenders or half and half, 3 mashed potatoes and gravy, 2 coleslaw and 10 biscuits. We asked to have it have fried chicken and half tenders she tells us she can't ring it up that way, so we said we would take all tenders, that wasn't able to happen either. The ONLY way we could order this was to get just fried chicken half dark half white meat. Then we had to wait forever while watching everyone who came in after us get their food first. One pair was able to order and eat while we waited. Get it was a larger order but this was excessive. Then suddenly we hear a woman ask is someone was waiting for a 20 piece and asked for us to come up to the counter. She pulls two big bags from this container and said she had made it for someone but they hadn't came to get it so she checked the sides and gave it to us but said there's more in there sorry for the wait. I get home and the chicken is all white meat and we don't even like bone in wings. Such a waste. A huge waste, all due to them falsely advertising a coupon they can't even honor. Then they didn't even give us what we paid for. I don't even know what to say but I definitely didn't feel comfortable even trying to clear up any of this up with them. They were not able to keep up and the tension was so high I reckon I will have to call. I had to convince my husband to even go here and I bet you he never does again. He's so upset and I do not blame him, he just spent over $40 for something we didn't even order and waited forever to get it and it was...
Read moreWe stopped in the drive-through to ask if they had chicken livers at this location. Surprisingly enough, they did! (Most locations no longer serve them and my dining partner spends a lot of time looking for a place to get his fix.) Needless to say, we ordered one order. We were then asked to come inside to pay first before the guy would drop them into the oil to cook them. I guess they have problems with people ordering them then just driving away without paying or picking up the order. This seems a little strange to me, I mean honestly, who does that - and does it so often that now people have to go inside and pre-pay for their livers? We went to the drive-through specifically because we didn't want to go in. Regardless, while inside we ordered another order of livers and I got a 3 piece meal with 3 legs. The food was hot but a little greasier than we like it. My chicken legs were the size of chicken wings. We couldn't believe how little they were and for the price, it was not a good deal. I finished all three legs in the parking lot in six bites. I would not order these again. I'm still not positive they weren't wings and somebody either made a mistake or just didn't know the difference. The livers were freshly cooked and tasted decent to me. My friend thought they were wonderful and ate the second order for lunch the next day.
Overall my food wasn't anything special, it was exceptionally tiny and greasy. Livers were decent and the fact they had them in the first place counts for about 1/2 a star. Staff was polite but not overly friendly - they did get our orders ready in a timely manner. The restaurant itself was not filthy but could have been a little cleaner. My friend likely will come back here the next time he's craving chicken livers. I, however, will not accompany him and probably won't...
