Update. November 2019
After a year of not going to this restaurant because of a very rude waiter mentioned in below review, today I decided to go back. The food as usual was very good.
Unfortunately when I went to pay the bill the owner, instead of welcoming me back and asking if everything was alright, lashed out at me in front of customers and his staff for posting the below review. I told him it was factually correct and if he had asked me nicely I would take it down. He got all huffy and walked away. I am shocked that the owner would be so rude and take Google reviews personally. Now I know why the waiter below was rude - it starts at the top.
The owners and management need to take a hard look at themselves. Customers pay for food and service. If you can't act professional and be appreciative of your customers then find something else to do. There are plenty of other restaurants that appreciate their customers and their owners can handle positive and negative feedback. It is part of the restaurant business.
November 2018.
Rude waiter who is disrespectful and has a chip on his shoulder.
I have been going there for 10 years and really enjoy their food and service. In fact it is the only restaurant that I go to in Shellbyville.
Unfortunately a young waiter today was rude and mumbled under his breath when I ordered spicy Salsa sauce. When I asked him what he said, he responded āyou heard me, you donāt own this placeā. Not sure who raised this young man but he has no business working in restaurants and dealing with customers if he has a problem taking orders.
La Hacienda has always been good - and it is very unfortunate that a young man with an attitude would treat customers rudely and with disrespect while tarnishing the business that he works for.
The owner did call and was apologetic about the incident.
I am sure that this is not the first or the last time he will do this. This young man has no manners for a 17 year old and should not be rude to his elders - let alone customers who ultimately...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOther than a delay at getting a seat which I entirely blame on two women who must be living on another planet because they didnāt notice prices have gone up EVERYWHERE during the last year. They seemed to be complaining about their bill while ignoring the stack of people waiting to get seated. I travel America constantly, prices here are very reasonable compared to most similar restaurants Iāve seen in other parts of the country.
Our meals and the service from that point on were amazing. The waiter was attentive without being overly bothersome. Its a fine balance to maintain. The most important part of a good server is to listen to the customers and get the order correctly served. Our waiter did it perfectly. I can honestly say he was one of the best waiters Iāve seen in a long time. I canāt remember his name, but he was the guy with the earring.
As for the food my only complaint was that we both ordered the same thing. We had fajitas that tasted outstanding, but we regretted not trying two different items so we could try other things too. The servings were large enough to have lunch from the leftovers the next day. We ordered a bowl of queso while waiting for the main course. We were both impressed with the flavor and the large size of the serving. We had to be careful to not overindulge on chips and queso before the meals. The salsa was tasty too, although it might disappoint you if you like it extra spicy. Our drinks were horchata and margaritas, and both were very good.
The overall restaurant was family friendly (kind of noisy with children), but it wasnāt to the point that it was bothering us at our table. Parking is ample too. Even if youāre a truck driver thereās room for your rig in the Walmart lot which is an easy walk to the restaurant.
We will definitely make this a regular stop whenever we do business in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a regular customer for the past year and a half. This last to-go order was the most unpleasant I have ever had. I called and ordered my food, the lady on the phone read back my order to me. We both confirmed the order was correct. I live 25 minutes away. When I showed up to pick up my order, I waited for awhile for someone to come to the front. I again confirmed my order and paid for my food. Upon returning home, I realized that I was missing two of the meals I ordered. I called the store to explain the mishap and was immediately met with an attitude from the same woman who took my order (Ashley). I asked to speak to a manager who said that I never ordered one of my missing meals. I said that when she had read back my order, the burrito was listed. I looked at my receipt and realized that it was not there- even though it was confirmed TWICE with the server. Regardless of this, I was still missing one meal that I had paid for. The manager that I spoke with also gave an attitude when asked what was going to be done about the missing food. He agreed to make the two missing meals and give the burrito for free. I again drove 25 minutes to get my food and was asked to pay for the burrito. I have NEVER received service as poor as I have here. They did not acknowledge their mistakes nor apologize until my husband went to pick up the food. I hope that people rethink their choice to eat at a place that can treat their customers with total disregard. I will not eat there again and I will no longer recommend this...
