McKinley’s Cafe — Restaurant in Shelbyville

I recently hosted a birthday party for 25 guests at McKinley’s Cafe in Shelbyville, KY, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The owner was incredibly accommodating and laid-back, which made the whole process stress-free. It was clear that they genuinely care about their customers and want everyone to feel welcome. The staff, too, were outstanding—friendly, efficient, and on top of everything. I was amazed at how quickly the food came out, and everything was hot and fresh, despite our large group.

As for the food, it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Firenze Panini, and it was fantastic—perfectly grilled with a great balance of flavors. I also split the Roast Beef Sandwich with someone, and it didn’t disappoint. The portions were generous, and the quality of the ingredients was top-notch. By the end of the meal, I was so full I wished I could’ve tried more, but I just couldn’t fit it in! For dessert, we had the cookies, which were a perfect, soft, chewy treat to end the meal.

What really impressed me was how affordable everything was. Despite the high quality of the food and service, the prices were incredibly reasonable, which made the experience even better. McKinley’s Cafe is definitely now at the top of my list for places to return to. The entire experience—from the welcoming atmosphere to the delicious food—was memorable, and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know in the area. If you’re in Shelbyville, this is a must-stop. McKinley's Deli is a well established restaurant in downtown Shelbyville with a loyal following. They are open for lunch only, 10:00am to 3:30pm weekdays and 9:30am to 3:00pm Saturdays. Closed on Sundays.

This venue is very popular and often crowded during the peak lunch hour.

The menu features primarily sandwiches, deli fare and bakery goods, all of good quality. They can make almost any sandwich you can imagine, just ask. A variety of non alcoholic beverages are available.

Orders are placed at the counter and service is friendly, personal, accurate and prompt. No table service.

The facility is in an older well maintained building. Decor features several electric model trains that run around the walls on an elevated shelf that encircles the room. Atmosphere is friendly and casual, somewhat noisy when crowded.

Free on-street parking can be limited at busy times.

A step at the entrance limits wheelchair access.

This place was AWESOME, this is like a classic style deli all the food is made fresh and it shows. It was just so good. 🍞 bead was crispy and toasted with love and care ✔

Cheese was creamy and I could tell it wasnt microwaved because the cheese was cold and the bacon was nice and warm ✔

I love that you can pick what goes in the chili. This was one of my favorite aspects of the place. Will definitely return to this place! ☺ the ☕ tea was 100% home brew it was so nice i had the raspberry and grabbed a swig of the sweet on the way out!

I also loved the big mural on the wall it was super detailed and very calming!
