The Paddock Coffee + Eats + Gatherings — Restaurant in Shelbyville

Had a really great time stopping in here today! The atmosphere is warm and cozy (which is great since the weather was definitely NOT warm and cozy). Beautifully appointed space, with well-themed and really striking decor. The coffee smelled terrific, but unfortunately I had to switch to tea a few years back. The good news is they have a terrific selection of teas to choose from, and the Black Tea was delicious!

The food was also baked on site, and looked amazing. I tried a bit of everything my family ordered and it was all fantastic. My wife tried the white chocolate peppermint mocha and was in heaven. My kids tried some of the fancier hot chocolate peppermint iced whatever's (haha I never know the name of these things, but they looked really fancy and tasted out of this world) and loved them--of course my teenager's iced coffee drink lasted all of three seconds, but that means he loved it. My kids were actually behaving, so that's a big thumbs up from them(and makes us parents appreciate it even more).

While everything is delicious, the atmosphere in here is second-to-none! Cozy, comfortable, and feels like home--I was sad to leave, but hopefully will be passing through this way again (there was an amazing looking air-bnb directly above this that I might have to check into).

I love a good coffee shop! More than that, I love a well functioning, customer driven experience. The Paddock offers exactly that; an excellent customer driven experience with an excellent selection of coffees. There plenty of room to pull up a chair at the big coffee bar, or you can relax in any of their comfortable chairs appropriately placed. The building is spacious and beautiful. Historic and restored to a beautiful luster that invites you in and makes you appreciate how much time and effort has gone into making the owners' dreams come true. There's also a mini food bar with delicious homemade sweets for dipping in your coffee or just eating on the go. There's a beautiful event space in the next room and even an AirBNB above the coffee shop that's breathtakingly beautiful. This brand new coffee shop adds some amazing southern charm and fierce competition for their respective market. The entire staff are all incredibly sweet and very responsive. They understand that they're new and they're still working some minor kinks out, so they're seeking out and listening to customer feedback to help mold the business into the best that it can be. I had high hopes for a cozy catch-up with a friend on a cold, rainy day at this coffeehouse, specifically chosen for its inviting fireplace. However, our experience fell short. Despite the welcoming ambiance, there was a misunderstanding regarding personal belongings left by the fireplace, which the barista claimed as her own. Although we managed to settle in and enjoy our drinks, the mood shifted when the fireplace shut off after 30 minutes. When kindly requesting to have it turned back on, the barista's abrupt refusal, citing her own discomfort loudly from across the coffeehouse, left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable, especially considering my friend's pregnancy. Despite the nice fireplace and welcoming interior, the atmosphere could not compensate poor customer service. We quickly finished our coffees and left our cold seats next to the fireplace.
