Shovel Pizza — Restaurant in Shelbyville

This new pizza restaurant in Shelbyville makes a fantastic pizza pie. Our first visit was Saturday July 20, 2024. We discovered it is a family run business with a family atmosphere. We ordered from the front desk and paid for it before we picked out a table as that is their method of operation. There was a very nice variety of pizzas to choose from including a gluten free cauliflower crusted one. They only had two sizes to choose from at very affordable prices. They offer limited yet unique drinks from a self-serve dispensing machine. They brought our large Supreme pizza to our table. It was hot and loaded with fresh ingredients and just the right amount of cheese. The crust was soft, tender and not too thick. It was sliced into eight even slices for the four of us. Lots of pizza options out there but yall gotta try this. Got the Supreme. Perfect bend and bounce, crust had an immediate crunch all the way to the pointy ends of the slice. Tell me if you've had one recently that did! Toppings plentiful and fresh, not to saucy, butter smooth event horizon crust with a fantastic chew. Great price point too! Say goodbye to same ole chain day pizza. We are. Small caveat. We were there the Saturday nite of a Downtown Shelbyville yearly event at 6pm and my wife and I were the only patrons in the place. It should have been packed! Great for us, not so much for the business and community. God I hope that California bank has deep pockets or we're gonna lose this gem. Just sayin. We heard great things about the new pizza place on the square. However our experience was not up to what others experienced. We had the cheesy bread and a 14" sausage and pepperoni pizza. The cheesy bread was quite burnt. As soon as it came to the table it smelled like toppings spilled into a oven. After the taste I only had two bites. When the pizza came out the lady practically threw the plates down and must have been having a bad day. The taste of the pizza is okay.
