My family and I went to Wild Kanji to celebrate my dad's birthday. From the moment we walked in there was no greeting (from any of the 3 ppl at the hostess stand) other than "How many people?". She didn't even follow up with "follow me this way or your table is here" she just grabbed the menus and we just followed. That should have been a sign, but we were like we're already here and it's raining so whatever. We sit at the table and there's another hostess/waiter and she never introduced herself but immediately ask for what we want to drink not even giving us 20 seconds to look at the menu. So we get our drinks and I have to ask her for a few extra straws because the ones in our glasses were rubbing against her forearm andnot a casual bump like it looked like it was soothing an itch. She takes our order and our hibachi chef comes out and he was AMAZING 20/10! no notes!! While we begin eating my sister ask our host if they can do like a birthday cake for my dad and she literally goes "Yes we do that once you've finished your meal". Like girl what? I have never in my life heard that. Not even at an Applebee's lol. Maybe 5 minutes goes by and she pops up and is like "Are you all ready to go?" MIND YOU - she's never asked if the food was good, did we need drink refills, would we like desert, nothing but essentially rushing for us to leave. From the time we arrived to now it couldn't have been more than 35/40 minutes MAX! Like now we are ready to go. We get our to-go boxes and bags from the hostess and literally until we close the last box does she wait to bring out a sparkler slice of cake and walks off LMAO like we are in the twilight zone because this has been beyond rude. We get the bill and it's an automatic gratuity, WHICH IS FINE (restaurants should pay their employees a livable wage but I digress). The problem comes in that we're giving the hostess (who we never learned her name because she never gave it) a sizeable tip that she never earned. She was rude the whole way through and when we complained up front the other lady says she'll remove it but talked to the person cleaning tables and walked back up front and did nothing. Again, the food was OUTSTANDING, and our chef was entertaining, this was not about him. I'm just saying nearly $300 bill and 18% of that goes to a mystery hostess who practically begged for us to leave....
Read moreWe reserved space for a birthday party and little did I know so did a lot of others! I think hibatchi is the new chuckie cheese bc so many kids bday celebrations.. adults too. Seemed like every table was booked. We had a party of 12 dlr between two hibatchi tables. They want you to sit evenly across the two tables bc the chef's cook enough to split between the tables. The chefs were great and entertaining, shooting saki into the mouths of a few! Almost purposely on the ladies shirts, maybe trying to get a wet tshirt moment - ha! But it was serious fun...I was the only one at the table that ordered sushi, everyone else had hibatchi. They light up the table, place the veggies on first. Then some eggs scrambled, add rice, soy stains. Then evenly distributed that to everyone's plates. Then the noodles. Then they cook the meat. By now, the veggies are about done and distributed. Also by now everyone's filled up on the rice and noodles! Still have the proteins cooking! Lobster, steak, chicken, salmon, shrimp and I think oysters. Great portion sizes. Needless to say everyone went home with a doggy bag... except me. But my sushi was great. I had tiger roll and spicy girl roll, seaweed salad to start. I was full and content. We had a cake for our birthday girl which they held in the kitchen til we were ready They sang their happy birthday song and provided firecracker candle. It was awesome. I've already decided im going back in June for my nephew's birthday. Let's see. Parking is kinda crazy. It was packed. I got lucky and found a spot near the front off to the side but most of our party had to drive around a bit. They seem to be redoing their side walk area, so their was a wooden board to step on. Inside waiting area was comfy but crowded. I believe they wasnt at least 3 of your party present before they seat you. Koi pond up front was beautiful. Small room to the left of waiting area has TVs, I heard a last ask if they could put one to cartoons. There's a bar area straight ahead, and to the right is quite a few hibatchi tables. Bathrooms were decent but sticky floors. Service was nice, even hit a staff to take our...
Read moreThis place is INCREDIBLE. Went yesterday for a birthday dinner for 4 - 2 kids, 2 adults. Our chef gave us the most incredible experience we have ever had at a Hibachi. We ordered 3 house specials which they allowed me to share 1 of the 3 with a 5 year old.
The service was impeccable - water glass always full, dishes disappearing before we even realized we needed more space, dishes were timed perfectly so we never had to wait long for food and THE SHOW. Again, cannot say enough how wonderful our chef was!!! So entertaining and FUN! Since it was a birthday the Sake flowed...there was a sister and sister-in-law also celebrating a birthday at our table and they really were excellent table partners! Friendly and so much fun lol GEMINI SEASON!!!
We tipped generously to the chef and were grateful that 18% service gratuity was already included in the bill. 18% for what they did was a steal. I paid 25% when you include the cash tip to the chef. What we received for less than $250 was unheard of in this economy. While it is very pricey to eat out with current inflation, Wild Kanji made it worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY we spent. I cannot wait to return for the next birthday, but until then THANK YOU Wild Kanji for the most incredible hibachi experience EVER!!!
If you are in the area, I cannot recommend this place enough. GO! Enjoy!!! Spend $ and TIP generously...you will not be disappointed!!!
PS. They even had a little survey in the bill that I was impressed with. It shows that they are serious about their customer service and IT SHOWS. 5 stars isn't enough to convey how wonderful this place is. I would give it...
