So, I will preface this review by saying that this is their opening week and that means there are still some kinks to be ironed out (more on that later).
Buffalo Wild Wings is a great sports bar IF you are in for the no-frills sports bar food and environment. Meaning a great selection of beers and cocktails, above average -but- not whimsical food, and fair prices all around. Particularly in the age of $20 burgers being norm in almost all sit down restaurants.
Where BWW excells though is that the service level is better than the average sports bar. My girlfriend and I came in towards the evening, 8:40 to be precise and chose to sit at the bar. We were greeted promptly and warmly by two of the bartenders and then, carded to our surprise; but hey - it's the law of the land. We were then informed that Tuesday's are their BoGo Wings day - buy 1 get 1 at 50% off OR 1 FREE if you happen to be a Buffalo rewards member. Pretty dope if you ask me. The bartender also let us know that their late night happy hour will be starting at 9pm and showed us the $4 cocktails available as part of that special.
Now I'm no cocktail coneisseur but $4 ANYTHING is an amazing deal in my book. So we started out slow with a pint of beer each and ordered some of the BoGo Wings after downloading their app.
Now Here Are The Growing Pains the food took a while, probably close to 30 minutes, but the bar staff was very attentive to this, checking with us multiple times while we waited. And once 9pm hit one of the bartenders, reminded us of the happy hour specials. We jumped in on $4 margaritas because why not? Growing Pains Two the wings and fries came out lukewarm. Not ideal at all but after we let the bartender know this, he apologized, ran back to the kitchen with the order, and was back shortly with a fresh batch of wings and fries nice and hot.
All in all it's a new place so there will be an adjustment period, but what shined through was genuine concern for ensuring we had a good experience, positive attitude and communication, and most importantly fixing an issue right away rather than trying to gauge whether or not "it's decent enough." And on top of that..$4 margaritas? Haha like that's...
Read moreThis is our 4th time trying BWW in Shelton. Again, disappointed. I’m not sure if the owner has been paying attention but this location will fail terribly if they don’t get it together. First time we went we waited over an hour and half to get our food and our waitress just could not get our drink orders correct but we gave it the benefit of the doubt. Total time was 2 hrs. Second time, again we were seated promptly but the fire alarms were flashing and the waitress told us that the kitchen was backed up and it would be awhile and they couldn’t shut off the flashing lights. We told her we were leaving we had already tried this once before and she said she didn’t blame us. 3rd time was much better. We were seated promptly. I think there were district managers or franchise trainers there because the 2 gentleman kept walking around asking patrons how their food was and if anyone needed anything. One gentleman came to our table and when the food was incorrect gave us a new order and took it off the bill. We were impressed, we thought they may have turned a corner. Which leads to our 4th visit, tonight. AWFUL! While we were sat quickly, and our server came right over for our drink order. Nothing else was good after that. We sat at 8:05 pm. There were 3 in our party and we placed our order around 8:20. At 8:40 a part of 1 order came out, 6 bone in wings, (missing the potato wedges) The rest of the orders came out at 9pm. A wrap and onion rings (cold) and the 3rd order was completely wrong and had to be sent back. I think there were 6 other tables in total there tonight. At what point does management or owners step in and do an overhaul? Perhaps better training for the cooks, more of them, or new ones? BWW has been a go to for us for many years but we will not be going back to the Shelton location. It’s sad because every year we go watch the NFL draft at BWW in Milford, CT and were excited to be able to watch in our hometown but we won’t, due to the complete failure of leadership to get Shelton location right. Very sad and someone needs to pay attention to the giant failures...
Read moreMy husband and I placed a to-go order months ago. When we went to pick-up the order we were first ignored for 15 minutes and then told that the kitchen was backed up and it would be another 10 minutes. We went and did some shopping and returned after 30 minutes. The order was still not ready. We asked to cancel the order and told it was. I ended up being charged and sent a complaint in to be refunded. I was called by the manager and he asked if I would accept a credit to his store, rather than having it returned to my credit card and I agreed. Fast forward many months, I called in tonight to place a pick up order to celebrate the first football game of the season. I was cold transferred to a bunch of people and ultimately was told that on 8/14 I went in and picked up an order. This is going to be way inside baseball, but my son is medically complex and we were at Boston Children's Hospital at the time. I kindly assured the manager I didn't use the credit, he fought me and said he was the one that gave me the credit for the order, I again assured him it was not me. He huffed and puffed and said "ok, you want to put in ANOTHER order, I am assuming?" I said, no, not another order, just an order. He huffed and puffed again and said "what can I get you". I declined the credit I am owed and in tears told him that I wasn't trying to put him out I just wanted my credit. He cut me off and told me he wasn't put out, but clearly he knew he was in the wrong. I have been a patron since BWW opened in Milford a LONG time ago and in fact celebrate my birthday at the Milford store each year, since I turned 21. I will be 38 this month. I am so disappointed in how I was treated and I will suggest going to the Milford location as I have always been treated with respect and dignity. To whoever he gave my $68 credit to, I hope you enjoyed the...
