I’ll start off with the good, the restaurant has amazing customer service! Everyone that goes there (at least when I went) goes in big groups, I went in with a party of 13 & the staff was kind enough to join a bunch of tables together to sit us. Shortly after we arrived 3 more large parties arrived making it a full house. You get free unlimited Chips & Salsa!! Most of the workers are Hispanic & I’m pretty sure that the cooks are also Hispanic (most likely Mexican), but sadly the food is not 100% authentic Mexican. The horchata was not sweet & creamy it tasted pretty watered down. They don’t have many options on meets for their “Mexican tacos” so I just played it safe & ordered Asada (steak), the tortilla used was the white corn tortilla (most Mexicans prefer yellow as it has a less processed taste, but I don’t know how hard it is to find Mexican products in Shipshewana). One of my party members ordered there tacos with rice & beans, the beans lacked seasoning tasting like (not that they are, they just taste like it) they came directly out of the can…and the rice…I believe the restaurant calls it Spanish (as in Spain) rice REALLY REALLY wish they would just make regular Mexican rice because it is 10x better than this Spanish rice. Another one of our party members ordered green enchiladas (**correction: Enchiladas Anita) which she didn’t end up liking. The customer service was great but would I come back? Mmmm…maybe I’ll look for another place to try next time(:

We stopped in about an hour and a half before closing, we had about 15 people with us when we came in. Getting in was fine, took a minute to get situated, as it would with a large group. However, this is where it stops. And why there’s only two stars, and honestly that’s being generous. We’re sat down in the back in the party room, silverware was tossed about as we were taking our seats; rather obvious that they did not want to be seating us or having anything to do with us. Fine, we understand it’s a little close to closing… However waiting over an hour for food (that we got at closing btw) that was subpar at best and inedible at worst. Or! Just not getting it, which made matters much much worse. We were asked if we needed any refills or anything and the server comes back with pitchers and and asked if we wanted to pour it ourselves or if we wanted to have them pour it. I try to be as understanding as possible, but how we were treated was not okay. Our bills - another point of contention, back with attitude. We had things that needed to be taken care of on our bills, as we did need things separate and completely taken off. Needless to say, we will not be back, nor will we say anything good about our experience.

Our second trip to El Zorrito wasn't nearly as good as the first time. This time there was a dank moldy smell in the dining room. Our food came out quickly but it was bland and barely hot. I didn't care for the flavor of the ground beef. The Diet Pepsi was great. And the Mango lemonade my wife had was good also. We will b back in Shipshewana but we won't b eating here again.

EDIT: I definitely now have food poisoning from here as I am throwing up and have explosive diarrhea 5 hours after eating here. My stomach has been cramping and I’ve had major gas since I ate their food. I am taking it down to 1 star because I have to give at least 1. DO NOT EAT HERE.

2 stars only because the food was good. I ordered take out at 5:18 and was told it would take 30 mins. I arrived at 5:46 and didn’t get my food until around 6:10. Making me wait 45+ mins for a chimichanga and chips/queso with no substitutions is RIDICULOUS. Someone came in that had a bigger order than me and ordered after me and their food was done right away. I’m pretty sure they didn’t start my food until I got there and then made me wait another 20 mins. That is absolutely uncalled for. They also never told me my total until they came out asking for my payment. The total needs to be said on the phone if you’re not going to have your menu or prices listed anywhere online. $17+ for a chimichanga and queso is pretty steep. There was also only 1 person wearing a mask and she was the hostess. I know the mask mandate was just lifted for IN, but businesses continuing to treat COVID like it’s not real is the reason we can’t move on and that we’re the laughing stock of the world. I get that you have to cater to the Amish crowd around here that doesn’t believe in COVID or wearing masks but the least you could do as a business is wear them yourselves even if you don’t want to make your patrons wear them. It’s so irresponsible.

P.S. in response to them responding to me and trying to gaslight me: 1) I know that person that came in after me ordered after me because I was order 15 and they were order 18 so unless they have the weirdest numbering system I’ve ever heard of that person ordered after I did 2) I was NEVER told it would be at least a 40-45min wait. The woman that took my order said 30 mins. I am perfectly fine with waiting on my food if it’s cooked to order but if you’re going to wait until I get there 30 mins later to start making it then that needs to be said so I can just come to restaurant and order instead of calling ahead only to wait an extra 20 mins once I get there. 3) I should never have to ask for my total, it needs to be stated to me when I order and regardless of what meat I ordered, $17+ for a chimichanga and an order of queso is too expensive, especially if it’s going to make me sick. Overall this was a terrible experience and I will not be coming back. Them trying to respond to me in such a rude manner is very off...

Called ahead for a party of 12. We arrived around 4:50pm. There were about 4 other tables (so not busy at all). Our order was taken pretty promptly. Over an hour of waiting for our food, it comes in shifts and then we still don’t have 2 entrees (and me asking how much longer, to which she said about 5 min). My mother requested a cheese quesadilla add chicken, stated it verbally but pointed to the street tacos (unbeknownst to her). She gets a chicken street taco 10min after her quesadilla and she is done eating. Mind you she doesn’t take the taco. My daughter orders and asked prior to ordering if there were onions in the chicken chimi, she was told no. Well guess what had onions upon arrival to the table…. So now I’ve requested to speak to a manger. The manager nor the server took anything we had complaints about to heart. She stated she would “let them know”. The sever went as far as to run and grab a menu to prove she did no wrong… um, aren’t WE the customer? Checks come… and lo and behold all items were still on the check!! PLUS auto gratuity!! I did not see this posted however. If it were up to me I sure wouldnt have give her $10. When asked at check out to have said items removed the server had to go ask if she could remove them, they weren’t consumed or even received!! Not one thank you, we’re sorry. I hope you try us again… nothing!! The food had good flavor however I barely had enough fajita to fill 3 corn shells! The amount each person/couple spent was not worth what was received. Never brought limes or extra sour cream that I requested. We will travel elsewhere next time, sadly. Definitely one of the worst...

Decided to come here after being at baseball all day with some of the other families, 8 people total. We got seated quick but then waited 15 minutes for our server to get our drink order. She was older and they were busy so we tried being understanding. Three tables were seated after us, and got their food order taken before us, and then they had gotten their food , ate, and left before we even received our food. we had to ask multiple other servers for chips and drink refills because our server was MIA. We got there at 5:20 according to life360 and it was 1 hour and 40 minutes after that when we finally got our food…. My daughter had a corn dog kids meal and the corn dog was still frozen in the middle and the hotdog part was tinted green on one side. I had a meal with chicken, cheese, and rice, and my dinner wasn’t warm at all. My mom had a steak that was like beef jerky. we saw our server a total of 2 times while we were there. Someone else delivered our food, and took care of refills after asking multiple times. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Someone told us before we went that they didn’t have good service, but we were starving after being outside at baseball all day. On top of everything they only discounted the frozen hotdog. by far the worst place I’ve eaten with that bad of service. Manager wasn’t there so we’ve tried calling and emailing multiple times within the last week and no one responds. I would not recommend wasting your time and money...
