I would like to share our very first experience staying at Farmstead Inn. We booked a room for the card show last weekend and woke up to an extremely hot room at around 1:30am. Our room was hot and as much as we tried nodding back off to sleep, my husband and I didn't have much luck. Knowing that we would have a long day, we attempted to let the kids sleep as much as possible until they woke up on thier own. I made my way down to the front desk around 4:20am to speak with the gentleman who was working. I explained the situation and he asked if we were staying a 2nd night and if so he could put us into another room. Since we were not, we both agreed that it probably didn't make sense. He also noted that he was going to note our account for the manager to follow up. I called today (Monday) and spoke to Chad who had no desire to help me and offered me a 10% refund. I was insulted to say the least. He said I needed to speak with the owner (Brian) to further discuss. After multiple calls to Brian, I did explain the situation and he suggested that we should have just woken everyone in our room up and asked to move rooms. That may work for some, but the last thing I wanted was for my young children to be woken up and then take the chance of all of us being up and not getting any sleep. Our 1 night stay for the very fist time in Shipshewana ended up being miserable. I was hoping for something other than a 10% refund. I work in the industry of supporting businesses as well as understanding customers needs. Our needs were not met and I took a professional approach initially by trying to work something out. Brian had no plans of helping me want to return to his hotel and basically said, "these things happen". He then went on to tell me about a situation that happened to him one time which had ZERO to do with my stay at his establishment. Save your stories for someone else:) Maybe he thinks it was a nice gesture to ask if we had fun at the card show and how we did? Thanks for the reassurance that you really didn't care about the answers to any of those questions, but simply wanted to end our conversation.
Please consider your next visit here and I hope that you don't have any issues as they will not be taken care of in a professional manner. It was nobody's fault, but how it was handled is 100% at the fault of the manager & owner. Do better for your customers so they will want to return for more fun in Shipshewana.

Read moreSo I wrote a review in their Facebook but they have either blocked it or hid it’s from other people seeing it. So I will copy what I wrote on their Facebook and post It here. And I’ll say, after all hat happens I’m quite upset that not even a dime was offered back after spend $500! I’ve been coming to this hotel for almost 20 years. I’ve always loved this place. Have had many parties and booked many rooms. I’ve booked 2 parties in the last 2 months here. Today will be the last time I will ever come here. We had our party in the red barn above the pool. We had to get our kids out of the pool because a group of grown men were throwing a ball around almost hitting our kids. As we were back in our banquet room our kids were at the windows watching the people in the pool down below. The grown men then decided to throw the ball repeatedly at the windows where our kids were at scaring them. A member of our party went down to ask them to stop and all the men jumped out of the pool and started screaming and physically pushing this member of our party. If other people from our party weren’t there to stop it it would have been a mess. We tried calling the front desk multiple times to get help and no answer. The manager apologize after all was said and done. But before hand he was threatening us and was going to throw the people from our party out. So for spending $1000 in a month and a half I’m quite disappointed with how it was handled. Probably should take a better look at your side doors since the people who started the fight weren’t even guests here.
They need better security so that random people aren’t just coming in to use the pool area. Too bad a littler girls birthday party was ruined by...
Read moreFarmstead Inn was amazing. It was an excellent experience. Generally we stay at the traditional chain hotels, however this time we choose this place it seemed like a home away from home. It was all of that, I would stay here again. The service was great at the front desk, housekeeping, and kitchen staff were all amazing! We felt welcomed from the moment we entered the hotel. They have it decorated nicely and everything was kept up and neat. They offered many spaces for families to relax outside of their rooms and yet have privacy.
We did spend the extra to have extra space in our room since we would be there a couple nights, and it was well worth it to have room to unwind. There were recliners to relax in the room, the beds were comfortable and everything was clean! The housekeeping staff left personal hand-written notes that gave you that homelike feeling. Continental breakfast was a great start to our day.
Kids had extra space to do things, activities and books throughout the hotel, pool room had a play space with toys for young kids to enjoy, and their was also a swing set out doors with lots of running area for kids and family to enjoy. Also, outside were walking paths, pond, gazebo, and lots of open space. This is also in a great location with lots of things to do within walking distance.
This space would make an amazing wedding or special occasion venue as well.
Great job to the owners and staff who have made this place so special and accommodating. If we are ever in the area, we will definitely stay again. Thank you for the...
