This was the first time I have visited the Blue Gate Theatre. I really didn't know what to expect. Let me start by saying as we pulled into the parking lot to park, I was already impressed that there was ample parking and they DID NOT charge you to park. Most sports/theatre venues around Mishawaka and South Bend charge you to park. When entering the theatre it was very clean, plenty of staff to help you find your seat. The size of the theatre in my opinion, is perfect. Not too small and not too big. The theatre offers a variety of musical performs. You are sure to find one that fits your genre. The stage was big allowing for the performers if desired to work across the front of the entire stage. I had such a great time came home after concert, and booked my next trip to the Blue Gate, same seat I had for my first concert, it was such a good choice! Not a bad seat in the house though. The only negative thing I could say about the Blue Gate, is their allowance and encouragement of guests to storm the stage for dancing and jumping around. Therefore impeding the view of the patrons who paid for front row seats, that were trying to avoid the obstructed view. How I wish they could provide a different area for this. If not, then reconsider changing this policy. In all fairness they did make this fact known to me ahead of time on their website. Having never been in the theatre I was not aware how much that affected my view. Was disappointed with this aspect of...

I am very sad to report that at a recent concert I was assaulted, body-slammed and handcuffed by an overreacting security guard, causing injury to my shoulder, ribcage and leg, all for simply asking a tall person sitting in front of me to please sit down! After standing for an extended portion of the show, people were mostly sitting for a period, all except one very tall man and his tall friend, who happened to be directly in front of me two rows down. That person repeatedy ignored my requests until suddenly a big security guard came down my aisle and forcefully grabbed me, saying I had to leave. I had to leave? For asking someone to please sit down? Written company policy states that concert goers who won't sit down while others are sitting will be asked to move to another location where they will not obstruct others' view of the show. This was not what was done, unfortunately. Instead I was targeted for bothering someone! At this point I could see a polite request to move to another location perhaps, NOT violent removal from the venue! I have tried to contact management repeatedly to discuss this mistreatment but no one has returned my calls and messages. No one deserves to be body-slammed, handcuffed and removed from a concert for simply asking someone to please sit down! I expect an apology and also for that security guard to take responsibility for assaulting and injuring me in the process. I await a call.

Amish-style food. Visited Blue Gate on recommendations of some of the other guests at out B&B. It was the general consensus that Blue Gate was superior to Das Essenhaus, though the B&B owners indicated that choosing between the two is largely a matter of personal preference. The food at Blue Gate is simplistic. I will describe it as a combination of stereotypical Southern food and Thanksgiving dinner. County ham, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, dressing, and overcooked veggies. All the food was good, but none of it was spectacular. Salt is used in liberal proportions, though, surprisingly, the ham was one of the least salty of the items we tried and I found it to be quite flavorful. Fried chicken had great flavor, but the texture was a bit mushy and the skin was not at all crisp. The "roast beef" was more like pot roast, though not quite as flavorful and was probably my least favorite. Most of the side items (dressing, mashed potatoes, vegetables) were acceptable, but unexciting and nearly every vegetable we encounter was cooked to within inches of becoming baby food. Service appears to be hit or miss. Our server seemed over her head and inattentive, while other servers seemed like seasoned professionals. Guess it just depends on who you get. Coming from Chicago, I'll say prices are cheap for a large quantity of food and this restaurant does offer...

Plz send help to the women and children who make the meals and are enslaved here. Absolutely criminal, then they take away handicap people's walkers and mobility devices until the end of the show and slap a handicap sign on normal seating and call it handicap. I was outraged and asked why they would do such a thing? She said bc it can't go in the aisle, so it's her job to take it away from them and bring it back after the show. I asked well what if they need to go pee? Or this place catches on 🔥 it. It would be a nightmare bc unless you are in a wheelchair sitting in it, canes, crutches, and walkers are all in the hallway! I told the police officer he just starred at me. Then I went to ask about the purse policy. It's insane as well, only small purses can be brought in or see through bags, however there isn't 1 sign for guns or weapons they are allowed I suppose , huge diaper bag is allowed and checked by police 🤔 put a tag on it sounds about right so far except they allow you to enter and exit without a recheck. I asked them if they had heard of metal detectors, but it wasn't guns there were looking for it was food They do not care about safety they care about selling concessions. The venue was amazingly decorated it could be a museum. However, the people are not very safety smart 🤔 Plz don't go there, it's nice but extremely WRONG

Blue Gate Theater is a hidden gem that never ceases to surprise me. This intimate venue offers a unique blend of the latest rising talents alongside nostalgic 80s and ’90s acts, making every visit a special treat. I especially love the convenience of starting my outing with a fantastic lunch or dinner buffet downstairs at the restaurant—perfect fuel before heading upstairs for an unforgettable show. Despite a few moments where the staff’s attitude felt a bit off—especially when personal connections with the artists seemed to trigger extra scrutiny—the overall experience has been so compelling that I keep coming back. The charm of the intimate setting, the quality of the performances, and the delightful dining experience all outweigh those occasional hiccups. For anyone looking for a venue that mixes great food, close-up entertainment, and a refreshing departure from the larger, impersonal shows elsewhere, Blue Gate Theater earns a full five stars from me.

It's a nice venue and there is a big parking right in front of it. There is lots of memorabilia to look at while you wait for a show to start. However, the theater is fairly small and if you sit on the far left or right sides, it would be hard to see the stage. We went to see The Wizard of Oz on Ice. It was a terrible show and we left at intermission. The show was a new, reimagined version that butchered a much-loved, classic story. I purchased a t-shirt before the show started and their card reader wasn't working and held up the line. Thankfully we had cash instead. The entire time you wait, both in the theatre and in the lobby, they play annoying videos about the concession stand products and it's very repetitive. Not my favorite experience, especially given the pricey tickets.
