Passing through town and decided to stop by for dinner. First time customer. Parking lot is spacious. There were customers already in the restaurant but some of the ceiling lights were off. The waitress came over and turned them on but half of them were burnt out so it didn't make a huge difference. The bathroom was mostly clean but the walls and door could use a good scrubbing. I saw four different female employees standing around the cash register so they had plenty of help and time to clean. If you have time to lean then you have time to clean. Food was good. I had a cheeseburger and mashed potatoes with gravy. No spoon for the mashed potatoes which was a bummer. Ever try to scrape mash out of a styrofoam dish? My companion had a pulled pork sandwich and french fries. The potatoes were delicious both mashed and fried. The whole restaurant just felt a tiny bit neglected. How difficult or expensive is it to replace light bulbs? Or scrub the edge of the bathroom door where people touch it? Kinda made me wonder what the kitchen looked like. After reading the response from the owner I'm adding the following. I was there for dinner and that is hours after lunch with plenty of time to clean up. It costs mere pennies to purchase cleaning products and light bulbs are not going to break the bank either. Blaming the previous owner for the appearance of the business from two years ago is unprofessional as is choosing to utilize all capital letters. Not sure how the pictures I posted are lying. It's also not my responsibility to reach out via Facebook and presumptuous to assume that it was worth my time at the moment. Looking at the responses from the owner to other reviews, it's acceptable for her to wait 5 months after someone posted reviews a year ago to respond but shame on me for writing mine a week after...
Read moreMy husband and I went here when we went to Shipshewana the first week of June, 2018. I was hungry so I ordered a pizza burger platter and my husband wasn’t so he just ordered a piece of pie. I never got my food and he said his pie was sickeningly sweet. The waitress never came near so I could ask her about my food. We were ready to go and I went to the counter and asked that they wrap my food to go. After a few minutes of standing there I heard them telling the cook they needed another pizza burger platter. They had never made my food. I told them I did not have any more time to wait so just cancel my order. I asked for a refund and went without eating. I had to go to the end of a five person line to get my refund. She handed me the change without any comment. After I had my money I said, “Can you at least tell me why I didn’t get my food?” She told me the waitress didn’t hear the bell saying it was ready. Even then, she never said I’m sorry or offered to give me my beverage free. There was no fast food restaurant nearby and we were going somewhere so I had cookies for dinner. I don’t care how busy they are, courtesy...
Read moreWe had the crispy chicken salad, onion rings, and the sloppy joe pizza. The menu is interesting and I was tempted to try the pizza burger but I ultimately decided on the sloppy j oe pizza. I chose wisely.
Let me tell you about this amazing pizza. Let’s start on the bottom. The crust was great. Thick, chewy, and crispy on the edges. Then comes a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. This is followed by a large amount of deliciously melted pizza cheese. It’s then topped with sloppy joe meat, green pepper, and onion. I was blown away by this creation. I will definitely be coming back again!
My mom enjoyed her crispy chicken salad. They were quite generous with the croutons and dressing. Chicken was cooked just right, tender and juicy. Onion rings were good, standard fried fare, but tasty!
Great service by the owner. She was very helpful with their menu and explained to us that her husband smokes the pulled pork out back, and makes their own sloppy joes.
I’m eager to try more items...
