Bud's Tavern — Restaurant in Shively

Anyone can serve cold beer. Most food tastes good after some appropriately cooled beers. One thing you can’t fake is a good Reuben sandwich. It’s hit or miss. Pass or fail. I’ve ate here several times but hesitated to order the Reuben. You see this sandwich is sacred to me. I boycott places based their Reuben sandwiches. I really didn’t want this spot to go on my no no list.

I’m happy to report that Bud’s Tavern not only passed, but quite frankly their Reuben might just fix the budget crisis facing metro Louisville. That’s right. Located right here in Shively, this bang for your buck is worth skipping you normal Applebee’s meh experience.

Food is decent but their hours are not what’s listed on google or their website. Went in at 6:25pm on a Sunday, their OPEN sign was on. Told us they close at 7pm and we couldn’t eat there as they were done serving. Google listing says 9pm on Sunday and their website said the same at the time of this review.

Several Sunday’s before we tried to go in at 7:30pm and they told us they closed at 8, once again saying we couldn’t eat there as they were done serving for the night.

I ordered off postmates a week ago. I got the fish sandwich because I read the reviews and that is all everyone talked about. I got my fish grilled. It was unseasoned in my opinion. Idk maybe I need to try it fried. I got the smoke bbq wings. Really good! However, there was no sauce on them. They did taste like bbq wings though. Finally I had potato salad as a side. It was good but I’m curious if the base for it was thousand island dressing? It wasn’t mustard based or mayo based I don’t think. Overall it was pretty good. I’ll try the fried fish next...
