The Lion's Den Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Show Low

2nd Review Lions Den has always been my go to for drinks & food as a local the food is the same quality & taste every time even though limited menu as its mostly fried or grilled on the flattop I personally think the wine burger is the best burger I've had especially with a few additional toppings with a few to choose from or the specialty burgers on the menu each one is fantastic & the Pastrami Sandwich is my Wife's favorite pastrami she's had. The drinks are poured to my liking & are consistent while other bars locally pour shorter after each drink the Den's drinks are always on point. The staff typically keeps up regardless of occupancy & in the summers they get quite a few golfers & summer residents that frequent the bar & usually have good stories of how they decided to make the White Mountains their decided area to reside in for the summer months & also hearing about how their family history was a reason they decided to move back to the White Mountains which I prefer to the usual bar topics. The Den is definitely a great hometown bar & with the additions to the patio areas & the lower outside sitting area there's room to have conversation with a group without having bad background noise definitely an awesome hometown bar 1st Review This is a bar with great memories and great staff as I was doing my apprenticeship in my trade the owner of the company I apprenticeship through made the den the lunch spot so we definitely had quite a few lunches & an occasional dinner & always had superb service you hear about bars where everyone knows your name this is 1 of those bars...

This place is for locals and not for travelers. We were traveling and stopped here after a long trip. This place had great reviews and we had our pup so wanted to check it out. We go and sit outside and we're never greeted. We had to go in and get our own menus and were yelled at by the cook because it wasnt his job. After 10 minutes a server finally came over and advised we are in an area that they aren't serving. We asked where we can sit as everything was full and she advised that she had to check to see if they were still serving in the yard. Supposedly they stopped service outside but she said she would serve us anyways. She cleared a table and had us move. She promptly took our drink and food order. Me and my daughter got our drinks right away. My fiancé ordered a beer and we waited 15 mins and still didn't receive it. After we were told they weren't doing anymore service outside 2 more tables came out and were served immediately because they were locals. They got their drinks including alcohol and my fiance was still waiting for his. Server said she was going to check on his drink. She continued taking orders and he never received his drink. We decided to just cancel our order. We advised them we would pay for our 2 drinks and leave. The server promptly checked us out. The way we were treated was inappropriate and unacceptable. We have been to the Den a few times. Love the atmosphere. Enjoy the space and sitting out back in the nice weather. Normally we have the burgers which we find very good. This time we all tried the Fish & chips, brat and chicken salad. We had been on a 300 mile motorcycle ride and we were all pretty famished when we arrived.

The fish and chips was really a bad choice - and none of us liked it.

This is a frozen premade fish filet that goes from a freezer bag to the deep fryer.

Compound that with what seemed like old dirty fryer oil (you could smell the oil on the fish) and you really have a greasy hot mess for an entree.

I have seen several reviews recommending the fish. We cannot agree with any of those. This fish & chips was awful. And we all had to take Tums afterwards.

We are from Wisconsin & Seattle originally and we have eaten a lot of fish fry’s. And this is one of the worst we have had in a long time.

We all agreed (and 6 of us had fish) that even Arthur Treacher’s is better than what we got at the Den on this day. Don’t get the fish & chips. Stick with the burger!

We had very good service from Julia. Even though she was new, she did a great job serving us.

We didn’t complain. We simply let her know the fish is not recommended and paid the bill.

We are not after free stuff....
