Although the food is delicious and up to par, I think there's something wrong with the management that's in dire need of improvement. I would like to play it off, but oftentimes, there's something going on behind the scenes that's hard to ignore and completely interrupts the atmosphere as I try to sit in for a meal--for example, a woman oftentimes is always angrily yelling in the back. It's overbearing, intense, and loud enough to hear as a customer in the front. It's incredibly surprising the first time you hear it, and creates an unwelcoming environment as a customer. Even more jarring--on opening day, I witnessed an employee throw down their hat and quit on the spot. I love the BBQ chicken chain, but comparably to the Boston locations, this particular location has stuck out negatively so early in. There are also smaller issues that I've noticed. For example, there were bugs taped to the windows around the posters. It's hard to not notice while enjoying my meal, and I have to continuously avert my gaze to avoid looking at the window while eating. I visited on opening day and came back a few days after that, and the same bug was still there taped onto the window, and although it is a small detail, it shows a lack of attentiveness. For issues like these to arise this early, it raises drastic concerns about the management and treatment of their employees, and may suggest that they are not being treated with the support and respect they deserve. Please improve this immediately! I understand that it has not been long since opening, but these are problems that need to be fixed if this business plans to continue running. As much as I love the food, it's difficult for me to continue to support this location for the sake of the hardworking staff and employees who deserve the respect. I sincerely hope that management addresses these issues sooner...
Read moreI went to the opening day and thought their food was okay but not great. I haven’t been to any of their other locations. The sauces tasted fine but more mass produced and I’ve had much better Korean fried chicken. My biggest issue was there was way too much breading and it was extremely heavy. It felt heavier than regular American fried chicken. Some bites I had were of only batter. The chicken itself was moist and tasted good.
I would recommend bone-in wings over the whole chicken as the breast meat was dry and don't think you get significantly more meat. Spicy Galbi was my favorite out of the 3 I tried. It had a nice heat and smokey flavor. Soy Garlic was also good. Very clear soy and garlic flavor. Secret Sauce was a letdown for me. It just wasn’t that great and tasted mediocre.
Overall, I’m happy to have a Korean restaurant in the area but will only come here occasionally. The heaviest of the breading was disappointing since KFC is supposed to be very light and crispy.
There’s a small 12 person parking lot and 4 tables inside. Caters mostly to takeout orders. Things are always busier during a grand opening but expect a wait. I'd suggest ordering ahead.
UPDATE: I am changing review to a 3 unfortunately after eating my leftovers the next day of the whole chicken (in toaster oven to make them crispy). Several pieces were just the ribs, but were heavily breaded and there was no meat underneath. The breast meat was very dry and tough.
I talked to a friend who likes the Cambridge location & tried Shrewsbury and he also thought it was significantly worse quality. Hopefully management can...
Read moreThe food was fine, but the dine-in experience left much to be desired. It seems like the place is primarily focused on take-out orders and hasn't put much thought into the dine-in aspect. There are only four 2-person tables available for dining in, and they don't serve you water or provide extra napkins or plates (which was what I had expected, having been to the Allston location several times). Additionally, they don't have any high chairs available, which can be inconvenient for families. They did have a crusty old folding booster seat that you can strap to their chairs, but it wasn't very appealing. It took 40 minutes for our order to come out after submitting it via their kiosk, which was quite a long wait. There were at least 6 employees working behind the counters, but they still seemed to be training and were in no hurry to get orders out. The restaurant didn't seem ready to be operating in full force, even though the grand opening was only a few days ago. Next time, we'll just opt for take-out, but we'll make sure to place the order at least 30 minutes before pick up to avoid the wait. Overall, if you're looking for a quick take-out option, this place might be worth a try. However, if you're planning to dine in, you might want to consider...
