Ocean Cafe — Restaurant in Shrewsbury

I have been a frequent customer at Ocean Cafe for the past several years. They feature a healthy menu, with an array of unique soups; salads and sandwiches. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has decreased over the years, especially as it relates to consistency of quality. On days, I can order butternut squash soup that is thick and flavorful; on another day, it is watery and bland; on yet another, it is milky and of a completely different flavor and texture. The chicken noodle soup can be served with virtually no chicken or vegetables at all. The chicken is often dry. I continue to return based on a few menu items that seem to remain consistently good. I have been going there for years, and I am completely sympathetic to the required changes due to the COVID virus (I am in healthcare). That being said, I was very disappointed in how I was treated when ordering my food while in my scrubs. I was told to wait outside until my food was ready by the young woman behind the counter. I complied, thinking that this was their policy. A few moments later, another gentleman walked in and when his food was not ready he just took a seat and chatted with the same person that told me I had to leave! First off, the food is delicious. No arguing that. The prices however are a little crazy. $14 for an average sized wrap served on a paper plate. No chips. No cole slaw. No pickle. No nothing.
