Update 2023: We have visited again and it is still clean and the staff still friendly. I increased the stars from 3 to 4 because they seem to have stopped watering down the guac and sour cream and the food was better as well. The prices change frequently and there was even a sign saying so. I only went up 1 star since there are places with bigger portions for better prices and just as good if not better food in town. They are local tho so I will support them when in the area. OG Review (2022) Disappointing first visit. The staff were very friendly and I like that they have outdoor seating. The building seemed to be clean and the food was ready within minutes. However, for the price the portions were quite small compared to competitors with similar price points. We did the 3 tacos & a drink Thirsty Thursday Deal for $11 and added a Carmelo with a side of sour cream. The tacos were small tortillas stuffed with reheated meat that lacked flavor and some cabbage and/or cilantro & onions. The Carmelo was made with the same sized tortillas as the tacos and only had cheese on one side so the top tortilla just falls off when you try to eat it. They did have a decent amount of meat which was more flavorful than the taco meat had been and the cheese was good, but the meat was dry and not very warm which is why we assume it was reheated meat. The Carmelo was almost worth it for flavor. The fountain drink lemonade tasted watered down and it's a medium size cup for $3, so didn't seem worth it to us. They gave us a choice of salsas when I picked up the order, I chose the hot salsa and the guacamole from the options she offered. The sour cream I paid $.25 for was watered down and runny with no flavor as was the guacamole that they did not charge extra for. I would rather pay a little extra and get guac and sour cream that's not been watered down. The hot salsa was spicy hot but lacked any flavor. To sum it up, they had quick friendly customer service, a clean appearing place and the items to go were packaged well, which earned them 3 stars. We couldn't justify 5 stars because the lack of value and flavor. At the end of the meal it simply did not satisfy our hunger or taste buds and therefore wasn't worth the price. I'm glad I tried it as I like to support local so I hope they amp up the flavor.

143 Street Tacos Is the Place for Excellent Customer Service and Food-Moving Soon: After seeing in Sunday’s Herald Review, 143 Street Tacos received the Herald’s Best Mexican Restaurant award for the year. So, it had to be checked out! Upon entering after the lunch rush, Marcelo, General Manager and co-owner (pictured), observed that I had never been there, stopped what he was doing, and gave a personal tour. What a great attitude and customer service, especially after the lunch rush. The food was delicious with a varied menu from which to choose a favorite. Late lunch consisting of rice, beans, two well laden beef and chicken tacos, salsa bar access and a soft drink with unlimited refills, was only $9.25. It was the special for the day. Marcelo indicated he has been serving our community delicious food for five years. He started with a food truck; when it broke down, he rented a space from Buena Fitness. His wife, Martha, other owner, is the “Heart and Soul” of their business according to Marcelo and other regular customers. He has purchased a building, one block East of his present location at 80 South Carmichael (@ Fry Blvd.) It is next to a health food store. He is not sure when he is moving…possibly a month. In the meantime, he extended an invitation for all residents to visit him, if you have not already, at their present location, next to Buena Fitness, 255 Wilcox. 143 Street Tacos takes Sunday off for a day of rest, but is open every other day from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Our go-to taco/burrito/REAL Mexican food! As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with the friendliest “Hello my amigos!” Instantly feeing like family as we approach the order window, we are reminded of the owner’s favorite dish-the Culichi Chicken-his wife’s special home made original recipe. So I got it in a burrito, only at half and still have leftovers! My wife got her favorite-red chili beef tacos. Today after eating only two, she is taking her third home for left overs. Our son got a plain hot dog-but the Sonoran dogs are AMAZING-two hot dogs wrapped in bacon, topped with pinto beans, pico de gallo, cream, and a whole plate of fresh vegetables! There are keto and vegan friendly options as well. Do not hesitate when having this amazing establishment as an option for lunch or dinner. What started as a phenomenal food truck turned into on of the best, friendliest, cleanest restaurants in Sierra Vista! The renovation is very tasteful with local street signs posted around the building. The live grill cam and tutorials are a nice touch as well. The only complaint is I don’t have a big enough stomach for all the food. If I could offer a suggestion-remove the glass around the bar and have a place where food gets prepped in front of the customer-almost hibachi style. The choice of music does not remind me of a Mexican restaurant, however it’s not too distasteful. They need your support as they support the entire community.
