Keke's Breakfast Cafe — Restaurant in Siesta Key

I used to come here often and the food isn't bad however today I called for a pick up. The total was $41.54. I came in and paid with a 100 dollar bill. Unfortunately the woman in the front did not have coin change (my 46cents) so she said "I'm just going to steal 46 cents here" in order to round up. Now at first I thought she was complimenting me extra change but then I realized she was taking it out of my pocket. I understand that 46 cents is only 46 cents but it's the principle of the matter that they're taking extra money that belongs to me. I own and run a business myself and I would never do something like that to a customer however this is a chain restaurant so clearly the worker could care less. I told her that I do not feel comfortable allowing them to take my change so she grabbed a waitress and asked her if she could give me some coin change. Now here is the whole reason I'm writing this review, the woman at the front desk said to the waitress "can you give him some coin change, he doesn't feel comfortable giving us the 46 cents". Obviously to make me look rude and or ridiculous. She is supposed to say "Im out of coins can you give me 46 cents so I can give this customer his proper change." Anyway, I won't be coming again which is lame because I live so close and like the food. But I'd rather spend my money at a business who treats the customers with respect. Don't waste your money at chain restaurants, there is no sense of community and the workers are all miserable...

Food was delicious and we were quite happy, until we tried to pay the bill. The waitress did not tell us that they pick up the bill. Patrick took bill to front of house, at the register but they said we can't take it, the waitress will get it. Ok, well he came back to table and we waited. Tons of people running around everywhere but not our waitress. Pat is loud and when he talks people hear him. We waited, waited and waited. He was saying why won't anyone just come. Now our waitress was pretty busy, bringing out food and waiting on other customers. I was OK with everything until when she finally came she was mad at us because her other customers could hear Patrick complaining. She was very rude!! and literally told us that we were being to loud. Boy, that did it. Wanted to take tip back but Pat wouldn't let me. I said I will write a review. Here it is They need to have another system. Or have other people be able to take the money when waitress is busy. The two stars are for the food. Not service!!!! The entire incident was very upsetting. I actually run a restraint and have wait staff. Believe me if they were ever as mean as the one we had, I would fire them...

This was good. Onion rings were cooked perfectly. Grilled cheese was great. Chocolate chip waffle was fantastic. The unsweet tea was great. The service was good as well.

2023-03-01 The service is always friendly. I ordered a ham and turkey BLT. I was brought a regular BLT but the server told me to keep it and they'll make me another one. The fix looks perfectly cooked but the sandwich meat was ice cold and not warmed up first so it was not as enjoyable as it could be but I'm still very happy with it and thrilled they have me both. I won't leave here hungry. I will mention taste wise, the sandwich could have used more mayonnaise but I'm sure my arteries will thank them later for going lite on the mayo.

The bathroom is always clean, something I've come to appreciate.

The chips were perfectly cooked.

The tea was really well made.

I've been coming here for years and will continue to come here.
