I recently had the pleasure of ordering from Tikka Shack Indian Grub during a business trip to Mechanicsburg, PA. Craving the rich flavors of Indian cuisine, I turned to Tikka Shack based on its positive reviews, and I'm glad I did, even though I didn't have my car and had to order through Grubhub.
My order consisted of the Street Style Chaat, Ras Malai, Spinach Masala, and Kabob Bowl. From the moment the food arrived, I was impressed with the portion sizes, which were exactly what I had anticipated.
The Samosa Chat was a delightful start to my meal. The crispy samosas combined with various toppings created a medley of textures and flavors that were satisfying. However, I would rate it an 8 out of 10 due to the slight absence of sauce, which I believe could have elevated the dish even further.
The Ras Malai, a dessert I hold dear to my heart, was an absolute winner. I would confidently rate it a perfect 10 out of 10. The dessert was exquisitely prepared, with the soft and creamy Ras Malai soaked in sweetened milk. It provided a perfect ending to the meal.
The Spinach Masala was a burst of flavors. The spinach was cooked to perfection, and the paneer cubes were fresh and tender. The dish offered a harmonious blend of spices that pleased my taste buds.
One of the highlights of my order was the Kabob Bowl. The chicken was incredibly juicy and tender, and the flavors were well-balanced. It showcased the culinary expertise of the kitchen and left me highly satisfied.
While most of the dishes were exceptional, I found the mango salad to be too sweet for my taste. This personal preference aside, the rest of the meal compensated for it.
On the whole, my experience at Tikka Shack Indian Grub was impressive. The flavors transported me to India, and the quality of the food was evident in every bite. However, I couldn't help but notice that the prices were comparatively higher than similar establishments in cities like Chicago.
In conclusion, Tikka Shack Indian Grub in Mechanicsburg, PA, is undoubtedly a great place to savor authentic Indian flavors. The Ras Malai, Spinach Masala, and Kabob Bowl were highlights of my meal, and even though the mango salad missed the mark for me, it didn't overshadow the overall experience. While the prices might be on the higher side, the quality of the food justifies it. If you're in the area and craving Indian cuisine, Tikka Shack is a...
Read moreTikka Shack was the very first fast-casual Indian restaurant I've been to. I'm not surprised that it's franchised, but I feel a bit privileged when I found out this is only the 4th location and the only one in PA (the other 3 are in TX and AZ). This could be the beginning of something big.
Everything about Tikka Shack feels "corporately blessed" - from the name, menu, to interior design and operation, all appear to have been professionally vetted. The ambiance is trendy, clean, and inviting.
For me anyway, the menu choices are straight forward. They try to model after "build-your-own" a la Chipotle, poke bowls, and playa bowls, but it really boils down to just "what kind of curry" and "what kind of protein." Not counting appetizers and vegetarian, I am pretty much left with just curry, biryani, and kabob to choose from.
On this first visit we ordered one of each, with mixed results. The Tikka Masala Curry with Chicken was underwhelming in every way: portion size, taste, and the meager amount of protein. The Chicken Biryani with spicy option was excellent as one of my favorites, but the star of the meal tonight was the Chicken Tikka Kabob Bowl. The dish looked really appealing, showcasing color palette from Basmati rice, sticks of kabob, garden salad and mango; the included naan was icing on the cake. The best value dish. Highly recommended.
Service was excellent. The person taking orders was very friendly. We actually ordered online for later pickup, but the dishes were made more than an hour ago because the pickup time wasn't printed for the kitchen. She was kind to remake the dishes for us. Oh, she said the "dish was made with love". I didn't buy that but at least that's a good motto to have. Overall a good first impression and a solid 4.
TIP: Don't forget to add the "spicy" option. It makes a big difference. TIP: Be aware online orders are $2.00...
Read moreRecently opened in Mechanicsburg area and offers good Indian food in a casual setting. One orders at the counter and food is brought out and served at the table. Service was fast and we didn’t have to wait long before the food arrived. Place itself is clean and servers are nice. In the starters I have tried masala fries, kofta tots and chicken 65. Best out of the these were the kofta tots – soft and flavorful. Masala fries had a spicy flavor to it and were good too. Didn’t much care for Chicken 65- was spicy but the meat was hard. Their menu has craft your curry which basically is choosing a type of curry with a protein. Food can be ordered spicy or mild. Their southern curry was my favorite – with coconut and just right amount of spices. Butter masala curry is mild and average and tikka masala was good. One can order extra curry too which comes in handy as the serving of rice which comes with the curry is a lot. Got naan in addition but that was just the normal, frozen kinds and was just ok. Their tikka bowl is skewers served on basmati rice and is served with mango salad on the side. Excellent taste, kababs were soft and had lot of flavor. Rose lassi was a good option and goes well with Indian food. For the rest of the drinks they have soda machines for self serve. Overall the place has lot of nice menu options to try and is a good addition...
