My first visit to Don Cuco. The food was good, parking not the greatest and the service could have been better.

The food: Chips are a little thicker than I prefer. However, they came out fresh and warm. Didn't splinter when you take a bite. Covered in just enough salt. The salsa served was great as well. The bowl was a tad small compared to comparable restaurants, but all you have to do is ask for more.

I ordered the two chicken flautas combo - the flautas are served cut in half, so you will see a total of four. The bread is a thin flakey layer of crispy goodness. I have never had a flauts served like this. It was a 8/10 alone. The beans and rice were standard for the industry, wouldn't be able to tell them from competitors, in my opinion. They tasted great, nonetheless.

Ordered a strawberry Margherita blended with sugar on the rim. Served as expected and tasted good. I'm not sure what tequila they used, but it seemed either a tad weak in flavor, or I did not get enough in my drink.

The service: We were not immediately greated upon entering at approx. 4:30PM on a Friday. The place wasn't packed either. We sat at a table at the bar. Our waitress was a bit put off by something as we could tell her attitude was the best. Felt like we were inconveniencing her by being there. Throughout the meal, had to reach out a couple times. The bus boy who brought the food, took out dishes, refilled out drink definitely did more.

The parking: and you pull in to park in the front, you will quickly learn that the road doesn't go all the way through. Being in an SUV, it was a tight fit. Not sure if that setup was temporary or not.

Overall: 3 stars. I enjoyed by main course an the chips and salsa. I enjoyed the ambiance. However, I didn't feel like there was anything that stuck out that would have me...

This review is about the lack of service and blatant disrespect, We live 5 minutes away and decided to ride our bikes down to Don Cucos to sit outside since we have had a terrible experience inside and avoid eating inside in the main dining area- we take out or eat in the patio. We were just there 10 minutes ago, a young guy sat us outside, gave us two menus and never came back. Didn’t ask us if we wanted drinks so we figured he was getting water and returning to get our drink order but he never came back. We sat there for 15 minutes and decided to leave. Was tempted to ask for the manager this time but honestly, just like the previous time- I just wanted to avoid any issues.

The first time we had terrible service, not the first time eating here because like I mentioned we live in Simi 5 minutes away and have ate here many times but the last time inside I was made to feel very uncomfortable by the waiter because I decided to order a soup and a salad. My husband ordered a plate but the waiter was upset that I ordered a salad and soup and I asked him in Spanish “are you upset with me? Did I do something wrong? Are you upset because I orders a soup and salad? I am not that hungry right now. That is exactly what I told him. Humiliating. I am a petite person and I don’t necessary always want to get a huge dish for myself. If you offer appetizers and soups and salads you shouldn’t be made to feel like you are expected to get a...

I gave it a little higher rating because the service was good and staff was attentive. First, I'm very picky about my Mexican food. I am always looking for that restaurant that is close to my grandma's cooking. My first impression of the chips and salsa was good. My party of 5 wasn't impressed, but we ate most of our food mainly because we were hungry. I tastes some of my guests food and thought the rice was really good and fluffy. One my guest's got carne asada plate and thought the meat was dry and a little bland. The albondigas soup was ok nothing to brag about. I got the Mexican pizza. It was good but I didn't like the type of chorizo topping that was added. I'm not complaining that there was some on my pizza but the brand that they put just wasn't what I am used to. The size of the pizza was a good big and I like that. The female bathroom was a little dirty. It needs an update especially the toilet seats. Fyi for mother's with new babies, there is a baby changing station in the...

The food was a little bland, especially the chile relleno. The giant taco was tasty but fell apart as soon as we picked it up because it was so wet. The service was incredibly slow. We had to ask for drink refills multiple times and still didn't get them refilled by our server. We ended up asking the busser to assist us and finally got refills on our drinks and to go boxes. The restaurant was super hot and had zero airflow. It is sad how much this restaurant has gone down since COVID closure. It used to be amazing with a great happy hour and now it's basically Taco Bell. Hope they read this and get back on track.
