Dr. Conkey's Candy & Coffee — Restaurant in Simi Valley

The coffee is delicious. The pastries are amazing. The decor inside is always on point with the time of year, which is impressive! The service could be a bit better. The girls working at the front area with the chocolates are great. They always welcome you with a smile and make you feel super welcome. The ones running the back coffee counter ... well I feel bad because not all are like this, but one rotten apple has ruined it for them. This one person just seemed a bit miserable, and not just on one occasion. I dread having her take my order because I just feel like she doesn't want to be there and now that energy is going into my food. Overall, I think this place is great. I will continue to go there, as I always have, because their treats are worth dealing with a moody...

I like the coffee here and I like to support local businesses. Unfortunately, the internet is not good to work. I called ahead to ask if they had wifi and they said yes. When I got there the internet was not working and their response was: some days it doesn't work. It all depends on the day.

I wish they had told me the internet was not reliable as I really needed to work, that is why I called before heading there. Unfortunately, when I realized I had already bought my coffee. It was very frustrating mainly because the staff didn't care, they didn't even want to reset the wifi.

If you just want to enjoy the coffee this is a good place but if you need to work too then better to go to Makena (great coffee too)...

Dr. Conkey's is fun. So much more heart than most other coffee shops.

The thing that they really do well is flavored beans. In general, I prefer a single source estate bean: Guatemala, Ethiopian, something like that. I find flavored beans kind of flat and, ironically, flavorless. But whatever Dr. Conkey's does, whatever their process is, they pack in so much more flavor than any other coffee shop I have ever been to. If they claim the beans are strawberry flavored, you can bet you'll taste strawberry.

Beyond that, they have a great selection of candies, both packaged and homemade, sodas, barista-made drinks which change seasonally, and some knick knacks for the home.
