First time here, and Maria's Did NOT Disappoint. In fact at 3am this morning, not being from the area, I asked my Simi Valley Family, 'Who serves The BEST Breakfast in All of Simi Valley?' The resounding response was "Maria's!!" And Boy, the reasons to enjoy Breakfast In Particular at Maria's are Plentiful! They have multiple staff on hand that come to your table and check on you constantly. Although Maria wasn't in, like many of the reviews I read where service was lacking due to this fact, Today Service was On Point!! We had a total of 6 meals for breakfast. Although I can only speak for My Meal, the others meals looked equally scrumptious. Their Chili Colorado Omelette was delivered hot And tasty. However, perhaps because I ordered it made with egg whites, it wasn't quite an omelette. It looked and was cooked like a Chili Relleno, but was not. Anyway, the bottom line is that it was deeeelicious!! Upon leaving they gave me info about their M&B Steak and Seafood, which has a 4.4 Stars. Apparently they will start offering Lunch Service Soon! I'll have to make my way back out to Simi, to give that place a try! Keep up the Great Work, Maria's. I can see why YOU are the 'breakfast dining choice' of many local residents.

Simi Valley has no shortage of great Mexican restaurants, and Maria’s stands tall among the best. A true David among some well-known Goliaths. The service was impeccable during my first visit. I barely finished saying “I’d like a Pacifico” before an ice-cold one was placed in front of me. The complimentary salsa and chips were perfect—until I knocked the salsa bowl over like an amateur. No judgment, just a fresh bowl delivered with a smile. The fish tacos, rice, and beans were all spot on. I wish I could recreate that flavor at home. Honestly, the meal was so filling, I could’ve wandered the desert for 40 days without needing another bite. Moses highly recommends Maria’s.

Maria's is a solid little local Mexican cafe. It's cozy and inviting and hearty enough. In an unassuming little storefront in a plaza off Sycamore, it doesn't look like much - but the interior is actually pretty roomy, decorated with tile and papel picado. The service is fine, and it's the kind of place you can get in and get out or have a long, relaxed meal with a group. The food itself is probably the weakest point. The seasoning is a bit off across the board, the eggs are tough, the tortillas are a bit stale, the ingredient prep is a little sloppy - but it's all serviceable. It's not bad and it's clearly made from scratch, and sometimes that's all it needs to be.

I really had my hopes up for this place. Unfortunately the last two times I've been here I have not been impressed. The "Taco Tuesday" special was a joke. First of all, the menu AND the website say "all you can eat" tacos for $10. I was charged $11. I have eaten 100's if not 1000's of street tacos and I have never laid eyes on tortillas this small. Each taco was exactly two bites. I'm a big guy so the waitress made a point of telling me that there is actually a 10 taco limit...fine with me....I could barely choke down the first four. The fillings were sparse and dry...definitely not what I had anticipated! Okay, live and learn. Every other meal I had eaten here has been fantastic....now I'm back for breakfast and again disappointed. Ordered an omelet only to find out it is actually more of a fritatta. The ingredients are simply scrambled with the eggs instead of folded inside. That's not the worst of it! I asked for them to hold the bell pepper and add avocado and cheese...who ever heard of a Mexican Omelet with no cheese??? Anyway, my omelet arrived with a full complement of bell pepper and some cheese and 3 slices of avocado on top. This leads me to believe that this "omelet" was previously constructed and simply reheated on order. The eggs even had that old scrambled egg mealy look. Don't think I'll be raving about this place like I was. I'll probably still try them again but will stick with the dinner...

This place is always crowded around dinner time and I've heard at least one person say it was good. My friend and I went for breakfast one day and I don't think I'll ever go back. The restaurant is cute enough and the waitress was okay. I ordered chilaquiles and it didn't specify what color sauce I just assumed they would come in a red sauce. They came in this super sour green sauce and many of them were dark brown and burnt. The carne asada that I got on top was just little hard bits of meat and I was really annoyed that this plate cost me $14!! I considered sending it back but I didn't want to make a fuss. My friend ordered sour cream on the side and then asked for more and she found that they charged her $1 for each side. That's kind of ridiculous. The "country potatoes" were just tasteless fried potatoes there were no bell peppers or onions or anything. That's not country potatoes. Overall I'm very disappointed. Skip this place and go to Palapa off of First Street. Authentic Mexican food at great prices. It's my favorite. That or for a more casual Mexican meal Burger Express and El Pollo Norteno both also have delicious...
