We've been wanting to stop in to this restaurant, always because it looks so well-maintained and inviting on the outside, and thought it would be a quick place to pick up lunch. We believe in supporting local businesses and today after going to the Simpsonville farmer's market and the Family Fun Fest at the Freedom Park, we were ready to just drop in. Oh my goodness; I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or a quick dinner. The staff was super nice and patient (since we didn't know the menu or even the cuisine). The menu has a great variety of foods from southern fanfare to good 'ole American food and a comfortable variety of prices to accommodate anyone's budget.
My husband chose the seafood platter and I chose the flounder. We are both pretty particular about our seafood and also fried foods, since we rarely eat anything fried. The batter was light, perfectly seasoned and was fried at a high enough temperature to eliminate grease and to keep it crunchy without being overly cooked. The seafood inside the batter was tender and moist- they have this down to a science. We also enjoyed the accompanying cole slaw - not too sweet, not too tart, but creamy and a great side to compliment the seafood and delicious hush puppies. The servings were of such a generous proportion that we will have another great meal at home. Thank you, Pete's, for giving us a new option for our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn Tuesday, May 29th, we ordered food through the Bitesquad app for pick-up. This was our first time through Bitesquad, but we had been to Pete's numerous times before. The app stated that the food would be ready in 20 minutes. My husband even left before it was ready. We literally live half a mile from Pete's, but the onion rings were cold and something tasted off. I ended up getting food poisoning, although my husband did not (possibly because he didn't eat the onion rings). The female teenagers who work at the counter are snotty and rude EVERY single time we go in there. We started going through the drive-thru to avoid most of the attitudes, but even the drive-thru people seem angry. We have never complained about the food or caused any reason for these teenagers to be rude. The only thing we ask is for refills on drinks because they LOAD your cup full of the tiny ice, but get attitudes when you ask for a refill. They have messed up our orders before, but we continued to go there because the food was good. Well, this was the last straw. If you want the good "old fashioned" food, try Carolina Fine Foods or the Clock. We won't be going back to Pete's and we will warn...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHair in food from the restaurant in Simpsonville. Called them and the lady I spoke with was very rude and the least concerned as I explain to her that I could not bring my food back in the condition it was when I picked it up due to the fact that I tore the box open before I started to eat therefore I put the food in a plastic bag and she said she was not going through the bag. I also explained I had to work the next day and it would be smelly due to being in my car until after work. I am without power due to the aftermath of a hurricane and I didn't want to travel back out . She didn't care as I explained that I have been a long time customer. I understand policy and rules but nowhere it's says it has to be in the original box. I even explained that the reason why I broke down the box was due to my trash being full with the food we had to throw away all of our food from the refrigerator and freezer but she didn't even try to understand at all. I will never go back again and I will share my experience with people I know as I would not want them to have the same rude lady and service. In fact, if you are ready this post I would tell you not to go to Pete's in...
