3rd time here and each time it’s been the same experience.
Walking into the place I noticed fruit flies and a smell of starting to spoil foods. The line coolers are clearly not the proper temp and you can smell, see and taste it. I would love to run a temp test on that line because it’s ruining their quality and it’s sad. In the world of sushi… temperature is everything.
$30 for a custom bowl and drink and a kids bowl. Did upgrade the $1 Krab on both bowls… but! Got about 1/3 of a stick on each which across the street at food lion you can buy the same Krab with 6 sticks for $0.99 making that upgrade based on food lion price a 1000% mark up. Veggies are decent quality but the corn and fruits clearly come from the can and you can really taste that in the mango which is unfortunate because I really like fresh mango in my poke. Meats are sub par to start and then handled at poor temperature making it just enough to be edible.
All in all it’s not horrible…. and unfortunately the only quick option for the area. Would love to have another option nearby with better quality because I don’t think this quality would make it in any...
Read moreFirst came to know poke in California about 4 years ago. Being asking around for poke ever since but nobody knew what I was talking about. Forward to half year ago and "poke bars" are filling the Greenville and Spartanburg areas. Ok poke is the way Hawaiian eat fish and there after usually small lunchonettes for a quick meal. These versions of poke are designed as an "inexpensive" way to serve sushi bowls or deconstructed rolls (not that inexpensive- our two bowls, one tea was $32 BUT they offer their version of set bowls at a lower price). This one in Simpsonville is brand new with a few nice wall pictures of the area and Paris 🎯, clean-up very fresh ingredients and generous scoops of your choices, polite attendants and a fountain for drinks and tea, commune tables (I think theygive out a reward card for points earning). I will visit anther one soon. Try it if you want an alternative to Chinese fast food and you like raw...
Read moreGreat Asian-inspired "bowl" concept with a healthy vibe! I am always on the hunt for great restaurants that I can get vegetarian/Vegan options at while my husband, the meat-eater, can chow down on some of his favorites. This place definitely hit the mark! If you love sushi you'll love the edamame, sea weed, shrimp, ginger, soy sauce, tofu, chicken, pineapple, aioli, etc toppings. They have about 10 selections of bowls or you can customize your own. The most expensive meal was about $11.50 plus a drink. Not bad for fresh, raw or cooked healthy options that leave you feeling refreshed rather than weighed down. Thanks for one more vegetarian option Poke...
