9/16/18 After years of being a loyal customer I have never been treated with such disrespect by the staff. Their aggression and expressions of pure hatred towards my friend and I will leave a permanent sour taste in my mouth that we will never forget. It was downright and utterly disgusting. Situation- My friend and I walked in at approximately 1:30am Sunday morning. We proceeded to the bar to order a drink but just then the lights flickered meaning last call, so we decided against getting a drink. We went to the nearest table beside the pool table and started a conversation with some people who were there. We got into talking about pool, and a patron there asked to see my pool stick which I had in my car. I brought my case in and pulled out my one stick that he wanted to look at. At that time, a bartender, which I will abbreviate her name (D.) Proceeded from behind the bar to our table where we were standing, just talking and told us we had to leave. It is my belief that we were singled out for some reason unbeknownst to either of us. We questioned her as to why, reasoning because we had 20 minutes before they shut down and we were just talking, not causing any trouble. Once we asked her why, she turned to another bartender behind the bar and made a scene telling her that we didn't want to leave. The bartender behind the bar looked at me and screamed you two get the f* out now. I was taken back at the gravity of the situation and wondered why there was so much hostility. She then came to our table to yell in our faces, you two need to get the f* out right the f* now. She said you don't have any open tabs and you think your just gonna come in here and start to play pool? Which of course we weren't and had no intention to. She continued to scream vulgarity after vulgarity at our faces when we told her your singling us out for absolutely no reason. I then proceeded to pack my pool stick up and leave all while being cursed out as we were walking out. I have never seen, heard or dealt with anything like that before and it has now ruined my 3+ year patronage of this bar....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHaving moved back to the United States after some time abroad, I found myself missing a smokey bar. Now, I don't really smoke myself. I can't even remember the last time I drunkenly bummed a cigarette from a friend. But I love a smokey bar. I love a dive. I love a place where everyone feels like a regular. I like a bar where I feel I have to censor what I say to protect those at the bar. The Station is just such a place.
I have only been a few times now, and yes I am a member. That membership is a requirement for this glorious place to exist in all its cheap beer, good bar grub glory. And I see some people complaining about this online. To them, I say the following: "Grow up, you child." Not every establishment has to serve you on your terms. Your membership will become valid after 24 hours of submitting a form and paying a modest fee. But, what if you want some delicious wings and cold one tonight? Walk in and find yourself a member - yes, a stranger - and ask if you may be their guest for the evening. You will then buy that person their next drink because you are an adult and not a jerk. But you do not say this in advance as such a quid pro quo would be unseemly and likely frowned upon.
The beer is cold. The drinks are generously poured. The wings are good. The patrons are colorful and kind. It's a dive. It's what your Friday evening deserves.
Also. They have karaoke on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Why are we so blessed? I do not know. But thank goodness a bar like The Station can still exist in this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's never good when the bartenders try to get over on you thinking you're too drunk to tell. I only had two beers at this point by the way but I guess she thought because it was last call everyone must have been drunk. So.... with that being said, I ordered me and my wife two beers which made the total 8 dollars. I gave the bartender at 20 dollar bill and waited for my change, and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally another bartender approached me and asked if I needed anything considering the bartender that help me was avoiding me. When I told the second bartender what happened, the first bartender came back over with a $5 bill and said "I thought this was my tip". First of all it should have been $12 and 2nd, never assume the amount I'm going to tip you. I would have gladly given her a $12 tip but not like that. After talking to a manager I finally got my money back. So if you are brave enough to try this bar make sure you keep a close eye on the transactions you make especially if you...
