Despite what google and other reviews say, this place does not sell pizza by the slice!! We came here under the impression they sold by the slice, but they do not. They do have a variety of different kinds of pizza to order in either a medium or large, so we decided to order one since we were already there. We ordered a large, half augie blues and half city slicker. They weren't too busy but I asked about how long and was told 20min. We came back 20min later and after standing there for 10min the cashier asked the guy making the pizzas about my order and he said it's the next one to go in. So we were told about 5 more minutes. Came back inside 10min later and got our pizza. So we were told 20min and it took roughly 45min. Whatever, not a big deal. We get in the car, start to drive home, open the pizza to grab a slice cause we're starving, and it's wrong. The while pizza was augie blues. Not half and half like we ordered. I saw the cashier write 1/2 augie blues 1/2 city slicker on the order slip. We either got someone else's pizza or the cook didn't read our order correctly or he did but just didn't care to make it correctly, idk. The pizza itself was ok. Nothing special that I feel u couldn't find anywhere else. Overall, not impressed. Wouldn't recommend.
Side note: when I asked about pizza by the slice and was told they do not, I told them besides Google, that the first 4 reviews that pop up under their name suggests that they do sell by the slice. The guy said that's what he keeps hearing but they never have. So as a customer I think you not only don't care what kind of reviews you're getting but that you also do not even read...
Read moreFood: The pizza is good, but not $20 for a very thin small sized “large” pizza. They have a ton of options, but the flavor is lacking and the crust is too thin for the price. The cheesy bread is also overpriced, 1 piece of cheesy bread (smaller than frozen garlic bread) for $3 is a bit much when all that’s on it is cheese.
Service: The wait for a pizza was a bit excessive being that they are small pizzas and many guests were waiting for their pizzas as well. Didn’t get any names, so I’ll refer to them by their hair colors. Blue hair: she’s great and she’s the reason for the positive stars. She was doing all the work; greeting customers, making pizzas, correcting orders taking by the register person, delivering pizzas, pouring beers, she’s keeping that place alive. As for red and black hair: he didn’t do much. Didn’t even greet us or make eye contact as we were ordering. We were told they only had 1 menu taped to the counter, but after we ordered, other guests were given a paper menu so they didn’t have to hover near the guests eating at the counter. He was repeatedly asked to help with dishes, boxes, etc., just stood there staring at guests eating.
Atmosphere: The smell is very off putting when you enter, which I get it’s a small location so they can’t hide the fact they are making pizzas. A lot of dishes and cans were left on seating areas making the place look messy. Lastly, the place is just a little too small to enjoy a meal without the smell and many people waiting on their overdue orders.
Overall, if you’re dying to try very thin, overpriced pizza, bland and flavorless pizza, give it a try but you...
Read moreWe love supporting local businesses, especially restaurants, so we were excited to try this and then were so very disappointed. It's just really bad pizza...stale, cardboard-tasting, cracker crust (and I love a thin crust, usually), ketchup? for sauce, and a whole lot of "meh" for an exorbitant price. I agree with others that there are much better options for pizza in the freezer aisle at any grocery store. I suspect they're only still open thanks to their proximity to the USF campus. Their vibe and setting is super fun and cool, and the menu is creative and interesting - I think if as much thought went into the food as went into the environment, this place would be awesome. If I can make suggestions (as someone who would LOVE to return and enjoy an actual pizza), it wouldn't be difficult to use fresh dough, reformulate the sauce recipe, and kick up the quality of the toppings by using fresh, flavorful items. Good luck to you, Sunny's - I know the restaurant business is a difficult one and I want you to be successful, but the most important and attractive element of a restaurant should...
