I am the pickiest, pettiest, person when it comes to eating. My order has to be exactly how I ordered it or Iām taking it back: with that being said Iāve been to Abeās atleast once a week for the last few months. The food is phenomenal, Iāve been searching for a good solid consistent Mexican food place in town since I moved in 2016. Jackyās inconsistent, Gilbertoās started fantastic but has turned into a a cheap after bar food type of place, chevies is well itās chevies.
Abeās track record with me is also amazing, out of the 30+ times Iāve ordered food there the only mess up Iāve had was I ordered queso dip and received nacho cheese sauce. Which was a huge no no for me, I like consistency and that was not consistent with what I ordered. Upon getting home and getting angry that they subbed out my queso with nacho sauce and getting ready to leave a bad review, And take it back. I was so hungry I just took a bite, and instantly was happy again. Even without my queso itās still by far the absolute best place in town.
The prices seem a little on the spendy side until you see your order. Each taco is piled so high with meat they give a few extra tortillas, 1 taco turns into 2. The quesadilla is ginormous, their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a good time. Iāve just been at better Mexican places before though. Our waiter was amazing.
The tortilla chips donāt seem to be fried in-house. Theyāre a thicker chip. Not the best tortilla chips.
The salsa was interesting! It was, dare I say, more mesquite? Less tomato forward and more pepper forward.
Food came out within 10-15 mins. I think the beans had white sauce but they use shredded cheese too. Not bad. The chimichanga did have an audible crunch but still below average.
The salad didnāt have sour cream and/or guacamole, which I prefer in a side salad.
Overall I enjoyed the dish, but it just felt like how American cheese is to normal sharp cheddar cheese. It felt āround,ā fatty, and slightly bland.
Their tortilla my friend got was pretty good.
I went an hour before closing and they didnāt have Mexican music playing :/ just silence
They have Mexican Coke...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've given this place 2 chances and it was terrible both times. The first time I could barely even eat my food because the paper my burrito was wrapped in stuck to the outside. It was so saturated with grease that I had to peel it off in tiny pieces. That evening I had what I can only describe as explosive bowel issues. Several months later I gave it another shot and figured that nachos were a safer bet. How wrong I was. The chicken appeared to be made in a big roasting pan, which is not unusual. What is unusual is that the chicken seemed to be COMPLETELY unseasoned as well as undrained. So aside from having absolutely no flavor, my tortilla chips were waterlogged by the time I got my food. To add insult to injury, the shredded cheese that was sprinkled on top wasn't melted and was still cold. If you want real Mexican food in Sioux Falls, spend the money and...
