The Original Italian Pie Slidell — Restaurant in Slidell

Worse experience ever here. We have been coming here for years. We got a table for 5, it was my wife and me with our son and our friend and her son. First we tell the waitress that it will be on 2 checks. We order drinks, an appetizer, and the kids their meals. When the waitress brought out our drinks we placed our orders. The kids got their meal and our appetizer. When the waitress brought out next was a pizza and my calzone. It was the wrong calzone so she takes it back to the kitchen, she then returns with the right calzone and a pizza for my wife. The calzone dough isn't fully cooked, just the outside is cooked. Now the pizza she just brought my wife is the wrong pizza, so she leaves and returns to tell us that they are starting up the pizza for her. At this point we ask for drink refills. Time goes by, no refills and finally my wife's pizza comes out... again its the wrong pizza. She takes that pizza back, we wait and wait and finally told them just to box it and we will take it home. They return with the wife's pizza and it isn't fully cooked, the dough isn't cook the green bell peppers aren't even cooked on it. Now we are still waiting for our drink refills and so she brings out drinks in to go cups at this point and the check. Now back to the top when we asked it be on separate checks... well it wasn't it was all on the same check. My wife went to the front and the lady there said she was just the manager on duty and couldn't help and just said sorry. There was only 7 other tables with couples in the restaurant besides us so it wasn't like it was a packed night. We saw waitress just standing around at times. Family Dinner Done Right – The Perfect End to a Long Day!

After a full day of printing custom t-shirts — heat press running, designs flowing, and energy draining — I decided to treat myself and the kids to something special. We headed to The Original Italian Pie, and it was hands-down one of the best decisions we made all day.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed — exactly what we needed after being on our feet for hours. The staff greeted us like family and made sure we were taken care of right away, which I truly appreciated with hungry kids in tow.

We ordered a pizza (of course), some pasta, and a few sides, and everything was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. The crust was that perfect blend of crispy and chewy, the sauce was flavorful, and the cheese? Chef’s kiss. The kids devoured everything, which says a lot — even the picky one went back for seconds.

What really stood out, though, was how relaxing and unrushed it all felt. It wasn’t just dinner — it was a chance for us to unwind, laugh, and recharge as a family. The staff even checked in just enough to be helpful without interrupting our time together.

Last update: Figured I'd give this place another attempt. Ordered wings, grilled chicken salad and pizza. The grilled chicken looked like it came out of a can and no indication it had ever seen a grill, but the salad itself was alright. The pizza was so undercooked you could clearly see the shredded mozzarella, like individual strands, and the dough was, well, doughy. I'm not sure if they make a bunch of pizzas and freeze them, but whatever they're doing, it ain't working. The wings were again alright but not enough for the price. I'll probably never go or order from here again and wouldn't recommend anyone I know to do so either.

Update 1: After the first experience we figured we'd order delivery this time. The wings were alright but weren't great and the pizza tasted like an even worse Digiorno. Ordered/delivered via Uber within about 15 minutes and somehow both were cold and needed to be reheated. Will try again one day to see if it's another one off or what.
