I met my friend for lunch around 2 yesterday and I ordered the fried avocado tacos. They were nothing but lettuce, each taco had 2 tiny slivers of fried avocado. I picked out the bulk of the lettuce and took it to the counter and told the young lady I hated to complain but my tacos were basically lettuce. I asked if that was the amount of avocado that was suppose to be on the tacos and she said "Yes ma'am" with a pleasant smile. I told her it was just lettuce and she just said "sorry". Needless to say I won't be back and will certainly not recommend this restaurant to anyone. As someone that has worked in restaurants I was very surprised that I wasn't at least offered a few slices of fresh avocado to add to make it worth the price I paid. I regret not taking a picture of it because it really was unbelievable that anyone would send that out to a customer. I also ordered my mother food to go and paid for it when I ordered. I told her I would let her know when I needed it. She just brought it out for some reason before I asked. So she got a chicken sandwich and fries that had sat about an hour. The bacon was not fully cooked on that. My friend even asked at one point if they were trying to close and needing us to leave because we couldn't figure out why they would just bring my to go food before I...

After reading the previous reviews. I have to say that maybe something has happened in the last year or so to make Pockets food quality go downhill.

I've eaten there 4 times so far, and each time I've gotten sick after. I kept trying to give them a chance, but won't eat there again. 3 times were to go orders with the last being a pizza we ate inside the restaurant.

For the cost the pizza, it wasn't that great. It was okay, but nothing to 'write home' about. Better than 7-11's and Shells-but that isn't saying much.

Decor is really nice, staff is okay-teenagers for the most part. Yet again, if I am paying the same price I would pay for a restaurant in Bastrop, I'd rather my food be brought to me vs me having to listen for my name (like a dog) and go collect it.

Overall-food was poor, good decor, and since the staff doesn't really do much but take my order with an indifferent attitude... I'll skip next time I'm in town and bring my own food or drive to Bastrop. Sad too as Smithville is a great Central Texas town and I love...

First time back and probably won't return. Maybe my hopes were too high. But for a $50 ticket one would think all the food would be edible and appropriately served. My son's $7 pizza burned on the crust so he he couldn't finish his food. My husband's catfish meal was missing his cole slaw so I went and asked for it. The chef asked the cashier if it was to go or here and then proceeded to serve it to go in a tiny container. The same size container as the tartar sauce... maybe this is standard sizing.

And then my $14 salad I didn't even eat half of because I specified no buffalo sauce on the chicken and the cashier didn't mention it on the ticket though she acknowledged my request. I cannot stand buffalo sauce and it ruined my meal.

I get it was an hour before close but it's also an hour before close.

Pretty lame for such high expectations...

We stopped by in Smithville for our first time and the menu is extensive and delicious with fair prices. I got a hamburger for around $10, fries $2.50, plus drink $3. They have a condiment bar inside a car trunk and it reminds me of Fuddruckers! The space is clean, table size variety, a room separated for Lions Club members when we were there, and an outdoor covered porch, all very nice. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and polite. We will definitely go again and HIGHLY RECOMMEND you pop on by!

Sunday-drive on a Saturday took us to the town of Smithville, TX, best known for movie Hope Floats (photo). Pocket's Grille was a good choice to eat. Big menu with something for everyone; friendly order-taker made an old guy feel welcome, calling me 'hun'; variety of seating options. Wife had blue cheese mushroom burger, no bun. I adapted their BLT to a BT on white bread not toasted with extra mayo, plus coleslaw. Food was very good. Food + soft drinks: $24. A solid 4+.

pocket’s grille is the perfect family establishment that covers all the bases! it’s got lots of seating inside and out, along with a play area for the kiddos. the menu is extensive, and everything we tried was hot, tasty, and generously portioned. i would be surprised if you couldn’t find something you liked! it’s counter service but everyone we talked to was friendly. definitely will be back to try some of the other menu offerings!
