This was my first time ordering here, I wanted to check the menu on the website but the website is completely useless you can’t even order on there, and the prices are so outdated. So, I called to ask about the menu and the girl who answered sounded like a teenager. Talked so fast I couldn’t even hear the meat options, I had questions but she had an annoyed tone that was very off putting. I’m not from here, I’ve never had chicken and dressing and she got seemingly more annoyed when I asked about what it was. Then she didnt tell me my total, I had to ask. I think they should train their workers better or only have certain people answer the phone. When I got there, they told me the wrong price at first because they got my order mixed up with someone else’s. I didn’t mind at first but then they forgot to give me my side of cornbread (the muffin was drier than a mf), I had to ask for it myself. The place seems fairly unorganized even though they weren’t even busy when I got there. I really did want the food to wow me but it just didnt at all. $12.13 for a meat and two sides but it didn’t taste worth the money. Chicken and dressing was good, everything else was pretty average, mac n cheese was room temp. It was much better when I got home and added more salt and the texas pete they had there. If you’re white you’ll absolutely love the food here tho

Breaking bread! I can't say enough good stuff about this local restaurant. They help the community and offer a place to renew, recover and heal from the worries and harms this world can place on your heart, mind and soul. We went on a great day. Chicken and stuffing was on the menu and it made me super greatful to enjoy Thanksgiving early! I did wish there was a little more chicken in the stuffing, but even then it was amazing and great! The green beans were perfect, the smashed potatoes were on point and the gravy made everything super yummy. If you miss your grandmother's home cooking as much as I do, go here. Get a bite and close your eyes. You'll see what I am telling you to be true. Enjoy and be blessed. 👋🙂👍

While traveling, I love to stop in small restaurants that reflect the cuisine and culture of the local community! This gem exceeded my expectations! The food was home cooked and excellent in all ways - the staff extremely friendly! They knew everyone by name, inquired about family members, helped elderly carry food to the car, and encouraged the children with kindness. Definitely give it a try if you are headed to the area! Thank you for a wonderful taste of TN! Well done!!! :)

Absolutely amazing experience, especially considering the horrible experience I had with my first time at M&V soul food in Smyrna. I didn't even know about this place until I read the reviews for M&V and someone mentioned that you were better off coming here! To begin, my cashier "T" was the sweetest and most pleasant! My main complaint with the last place was the female owner being rude. "T" more than made up for her, in fact, she apologized that I had a bad experience elsewhere. She asked how I heard about Breaking Bread and I told her from a bad review someone gave and said to come here instead lol. The portions are generous and delicious. Being Monday, I got fried salmon croquettes, mac&cheese, corn and green beans. I also got one of each-cornbread and a Sister Shubert roll. Everything was fabulous. "T" came to my table to check on me and give me a refill. I must say that this experience and the last at M&V are like night and day! Breaking Bread will definitely be in rotation as a favorite...

What a great little restaurant tucked in next to the furniture store, in the middle of the block. Plenty of parking across the street as you come in off the round a bout from the Main street, or off the sides. Miss Andrea has some "real" Southern cookin goin' on. For this Yankee from NY I loved it. Greens, beans, warm apples and chicken, with gravy if you choose, mmm, mmm. Also mac & cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, with corn, too! Loved it. Service was great, everyone polite. Miss Andrea, the owner, even came out of the kitchen, and I was able to speak to her. Later in the afternoon, after the lunch hour, as she closes at 6 pm. One other customer. Clean. Nice tables, and chairs. Seat yourself. Order at the counter from a fresh, buffet style, menu. The server hands it to you as you pay....
