Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers — Restaurant in Smyrna

Update: I know it has been quite some time since I left this review, but I FINALLY had the chance to stop by to try to obtain my custard I never received. The General Manager, Michelle, was very rude to me, I stated I'd called the day it happened and spoke with a male employee who wrote my name and number down and assured me I'd receive the custard I had paid for. Granted it has been a couple months since it happened, but I'm not driving out of my way for a custard. I assume they tossed out the note when I didn't go back after a few days. Or they misplaced it. I don't know, that's not on me. All I know is, I paid for something I didn't get. Instead of apologizing that I didn't receive my food when I ordered it, or asking for my receipt, Michelle proceeded to inform me "I don't have any way of verifying your story, there is no note, and that's not the way we do things now, I wasn't the GM 2 months ago," with an attitude and a disrespectful glance like she thought I was just trying to get something for free. She stated "but I'll honor it this time " rolled her eyes at me and asked what concrete I'd ordered. At this point, I was so offended and angry I didn't even want the custard 😑 so I drove away so as not to make a public scene. I just didn't want to be disrespected anymore. As a paying customer who was not even that happy with the food I'd ordered, I'm taking this review from a 3☆ down to a 1 for the terrible customer service I received from a manager no less. When I called back for a corporate number, she gave me an employee w2 number. I called back again, and she gave me another store's number in KS. I have since found out there IS NO corporate number. So the only way to voice your opinion is on their app you have to download. 😬😡

Original review: I really wanted to enjoy this place. The double and tripple jalapeno burgers I ordered were dry and very flat. The service was friendly but the girl at the window said, "Have a good day", before I got all my stuff and I got confused, thinking I had my whole order. I got on the interstate and realized I was missing my large concrete. On the bright side, the food is filling. Burger, although flat and dry, was over the size of the large bun it came on. We first tried Freddy’s in Chattanooga and thought it was pretty good, but I prefer this location.

The drive through was very convenient, no issues with mistakes in our order, server was efficient and friendly enough.

My burger was really good…! I’ve been craving the truffle burger from Shake Shack for ages but I don’t think it’s coming back. I figured maybe the French onion steak burger would hit the spot, and I joked with my husband about putting some truffle oil on it. :))) I doubled down on the onions with onion rings, because I haven’t tried them here before.

Omg.

Fantastic freaking meal. Burger didn’t need any add-ones from me—it was super juicy, with the melted Swiss cheese and the tender onions, and no lettuce and no tomato—just juicy meat, cheese, grilled onions. Delicious.

I was super happy to learn that Freddy’s batters their onion rings instead of breading them, because honestly the breaded ones make me sad. These were perfection and I 100% mean that—the batter was crunchy and the onions were so hot and well cooked they almost melted inside. If you’ve ever had an onion ring like that, you know what I’m taking about. It was almost like liquid onion in a very good way.

No custard for me but we got one for the kiddo—not sure what the name of it was but it was basically cookies and cream and we decided it was very milky in a good way. Like, it was rich and tasted strongly of dairy, if that makes any sense. If you enjoy a milkshake, this was a good one.

I didn’t think I’d ever be able to like any burger joint as much as Shake Shack…the vibe here is different but that French onion burger was great and the onion rings were so good they didn’t make it home. :)))

Note for the neurodivergent—it’s very loud inside, so I don’t recommend dining in if you are sensitive to loud...

The last three times I have gone to this location. My order was wrong and the service was terrible. It doesn’t matter if I go inside to place my order or go through the drive-through both are equally as bad. The employees that work there all seem to be extremely rude and don’t seem to care at all. I understand that this is a fast food restaurant and most of the people working here are teenagers in high school, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be friendly and take pride in your job. There never seems to be a manager or supervisor around anytime I have gone in, but I have not asked to speak to one so I’m not sure if there’s one even on duty. I have not complained any of the times that I’ve gone due to the food being wrong or due to the horrible service that I’ve experienced. I’ve just decided that moving forward. I won’t be going back to this location ever. The last time was the final straw for me. I went to the drive-through and waited patiently for over five minutes for someone to finally come over the speaker and immediately start laughing and scream. What do you want. I didn’t even respond. I just drove away and went somewhere else. And I’ll be honest, I get the same thing every time I go here and I’m not sure how it can be made wrong every time. It’s just a single cheeseburger with cheese only with a medium fry and a medium Dr Pepper. But every single time I have gone, the burger is wrong or the drink is wrong or my side is wrong. I will not be going back to this location and I do not recommend this...
