GYRO CLUB — Restaurant in Smyrna

I preface this review by affirming that the dinner I purchased was pretty good.

I definitely had high hopes for Gyro Club because of the high rating, however I left a little underwhelmed. While the food I ordered was good overall, there were three major issues that speak to appeal and customer value.

First, there was no fresh rice or fresh salad on display. Maybe this was because of the time of evening I arrived, which was 6PM ish on a Saturday night, but I got the last of the old rice and the last scraps of the salad that remained. Not the most appealing, but I’ll chalk that up to end of the day.

Second major issue was the quantity in relation to the money spent. For just under $20, the gyro plate was a decent size, but certainly less in value when compared to Chicago Style Gyros (CSG) for example, and the gyro sandwich was quite smaller in comparison to one at CSG as well. For the same $20, the amount I would’ve gotten much more at CSG, with a greater choice of toppings, including feta cheese, shredded cheese, mushrooms, and tabouleh salad, just to name a few.

Third, and arguably the biggest infraction, was the fact that when I asked for extra ranch or tzatziki sauce, I was told it would be an additional $0.75 per packet. This is just inexcusable all the way around. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should customers be charged for something that is free virtually everywhere else, including the aforementioned CSG. Not only is that bad for customer value, that’s bad customer service and an easy way to lose a customer, and the ranch sauce itself was watered down, which just made it worse.

The establishment itself was clean and very nice. The gentleman that took my order and prepared my meal was very kind and courteous. Unfortunately, these other concerns, particularly the customer value aspect, and especially when compared to a competitor like Chicago Style Gyros, bring the rating down for me and made what was a decent meal less palatable.

I ordered the lunch special for $8.99...They asked if I wanted peppers and onions lettuce and tomatoes. I said sure, as one normally does at a gyro place... This added $4 to the total because it was excluded from the lunch special. Very well could have been a communication issue, but when i brought it up I was just told peppers, onions, and cheese (which i never ordered) were extra. I ordered a gyro and ended up with a gyro cheesesteak somehow.. Mediocre size gyro for $12 as well... taste was pretty decent.

Update to the owner's response below: while I appreciate the owner reaching out here to bridge this gap... I would like to clarify that I brought this up when the total came up in the middle of swiping my card and tried to have you fix it there and then. You weren't interested in doing that, telling me well it's "what you ordered" after I questioned the total rather than a my bad anything I can do to fix that? I wouldn't have cared about the difference if you did, but here we are... My frustration here is that the gyro sandwich is listed as $8.39 which includes "a 7 inch pita bread and choice of ANY TOPPINGS". At no point was i told the peppers and onions would be more making it into a cheesesteak. My point is this: I came in for a quick and easy lunch under $10 lunch, and saying "it's just $1.62" to me is not an appropriate answer. I'm sure several people will see that response and go is he really complaining about that little of an amount, what a ken! My point is that I was frustrated with the communication and the lack of trying to fix it there, which is why I've turned to the internet. I wouldn't have even followed up if it was a simple come back and let me try again, but calling a customer back out by saying it's just this amount, chill, was not the appropriate response. I will however raise my review and remove the bait and switch since you did respond and it was likely not an intentional mistake.... but please fix your menu if...

30 STARS....This place will have you coming here all week Food is so delicious very well seasoned best fries hands down best Gyro you could ever put in your mouth happiest your tummy will ever be and the Owner is very friendly and makes sure your order is right and if your a regular like me then he already knows what you want. I goes out my way to come here Gyro Club your the best!👍🏿😁.... Updating my review because I haven't been here in a year due to working far away but I'm so glad I'm back in the area on this day 8-2-2024 the food is STILL GOOD STILL GREAT SERVICE STILL THE BEST FRIES EVER VERY CLEAN I KNOW I'LL BE COMING HERE AT LEAST 3XS A WEEK or more the only downfall is that they're closed on Sunday's 😄😄😄👍🏾👍🏾❤❤❤ 1000 more Stars This time I got the gyro plate...
