Standing in line right now and have yet to experience any of the bad service mentioned in reviews. Yes, they are slow, but this isn’t fast food. I walked in and the line was about 5 people long and I’ve seen them already deal with belligerent customers. First guy was rude and being picky about his food for no reason. He ended up walking out while the woman was making his plate. Disrespectful. A second woman walked in with no mask, but was aware of the mask policy as she had her shirt over her nose. When called out by the cashier, she claimed “I didn’t know! I’m not coming back.” You did know because you put your shirt over your face instead of going back out to get a mask.
A regular offered to bring by a box of masks next time she was in so customers wouldn’t have to be turned away. The cashier said a box of masks was available. The regular and customer got into a disagreement about masks being offered by the store. The regular said “this is new for all of us and sometimes people forget.” This pandemic is not new. We have been in this pandemic for literally TWO years. NONE of this new. This is literally ALL routine now. People just choose to be ignorant, selfish, and dumb. And just like the cashier said, customers need to bring their own mask or they won’t be served.
Ive been craving sweet plantains for a solid 2 months now, but couldn’t get any since the server said they weren’t ripe today. I’ll be coming back to try oxtails and get my sweet plantains. The server is very hard of hearing plus can’t hear through the glass that’s up. I had to practically yell and repeat myself 2-3 times for her to hear me. Just be sure to talk slow and really, really loud so the server so you can order as quickly as possible.
In my car right now eating and the food is heavenly. I had the server help me figure out what to eat because I have never had Caribbean food before. I also cannot eat spicy foods and she recommended the brown stew chicken. It’s just the right amount of spice and its fall-off-the-bone goodness. The beef patty was flaky beautiful goodness. The jerk chicken mac and cheese is good too, but just too spicy for my liking. I actually had plans to go to another Caribbean restaurant 10 minutes away, but they were closed today (March 14th). This was such a blessing in disguise. I am definitely coming back to get the oxtail and some more plantains. The food...
Read moreCan someone please explain why a paying customer cannot choose to sit in a restaurant and eat their $20 meal when there's nothing but room to sit down and enjoy it- no one else eating in the entire restaurant? Someone came to me after I sat down and told me (actually "reminded" me) that I cannot sit and enjoy the expensive meal I just paid for because it was not a large and not on a plate. Wow! I was appalled and beyond words, because in my tiredness and hunger, I clearly misunderstood what was being communicated at the register only AFTER I ordered my food, and ONLY when I asked for the restroom to wash my hands so that I could eat my meal before returning to work. The food is delicious here, but this policy is ridiculous. How do you ask someone who just spent their money at your establishment and tipped to leave? This is EXTREMELY disappointing! Having many friends who live in the area and love caribbean cuisine, I will definitely make mention of the policy that exists at this restaurant, and relay my personal experience. As long as this policy is in place, I will definitely not be returning, because it's clear that if I don't meet the restaurants monetary expectations then my physical presence is not even desired in the building at all, and I certainly do not want to inconvenience this restaurant with either my presence or...
Read moreSo I went to this place on 6/15/16, I was excited to see that there was a Caribbean Restaurant in this area. So when I went in there was three women at the counter, two younger and one older. First of all there was no type of greeting when I walked in or even when I approached the counter no one still said anything until I stood there and pointed at someone and then finally someone took my order. The younger female that fixed my plate had the WORST attitude ever!!!!!!!!! While she was fixing my plate she was talking under her breath with an attitude to the other female because I was asking what were the different dishes in the pans. I feel like if I'm spending MY money to help your business out you should train your staff to be more pleasant. So needless to say, I told whoever was at the register to forget it because I don't want to spend my money with people that allow there staff to be rude and be disrespectful. I feel like this is how the black community fail with one another because we don't know how to treat one another. Hopefully the lady talked to her staff about giving that 100% customer service when I walked out and told her nevermind because I'm not spending my money with someone that can't find a better attitude. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS...
