We have visited Dilly's a lot in the past...I couldn't remember why we stopped going there, until we stopped in there today.
The staff is friendly, and even when it's crowded you don't wait long for your food. We were in line behind 6 people, but the line moved quickly. We ordered food and while my husband waited for it, I looked for a table.
Since it was after lunch, it wasn't very crowded, so there were a lot available. I went to one of the outside tables and sat down. Within a few seconds quite a bit of flies landed on the table. I thought, no big deal...it IS outside...where bugs live...and got up and moved to another table. Before I sat down I noticed flies on that table too...a lot of flies. I looked around and noticed everyone was trying to swat flies away from their tables and food as they tried to eat, so I decided to try the tables inside.
There are, maybe, 8 booths inside. Nobody else was in there. I picked one and sat down. Within a minute I realized the flies inside were just as bad as outside. There were a LOT of flies. On the windows, on the booths, on the tables.
I noticed our order was ready and went outside to help my husband. All of our food was on a tray and we brought it over to where they have the condiments. I picked up my hot dog to put mustard on it and noticed immediately that the bun was stale. My other hot dog's bun was stale. My husband's hot dog bun was stale. His burger bun was fine. I figured if they served us stale buns, they knew it; going back to ask for fresh buns was pointless.
We went back to the inside table. As soon as we put our food on the table, the flies were on it...a LOT of flies. My husband said we should go outside, but I said I tried and it was just as bad out there.
We ate...and swatted away flies the whole time. My husband said his burger tasted like the frozen kind and wasn't very good. Both of us agreed the fries were good, but that was about it.
We noticed that they had clear bags full of some kind of clear liquid outside...which was maybe supposed to cut down on the bugs? But nothing inside. No bags, no fly traps, nothing. Again, I can understand flies...
Read moreThe good and the not so good. Let's start with not so good. Only one person touching the food in the kitchen was wearing gloves. Not necessarily friendly. Cheese steak was made with steak um. Prices decent, ice cream looked good. adding more since the business responded Regarding the gloves, only ONE person was wearing gloves and that person was the one who was bringing the food to the window. I had a little one with me who commented that kitchen staff were using bare hands to put french fries ready to eat in the tray. Additionally, I looked under the window and witnessed bare hands on the sandwiches too. I'm sure it happens and you want to think the staff do this all the time. But I assure you it happened. For sure when the health dept shows up everyone has a hat on and they wear gloves. If you have a camera in the kitchen, go watch the video. I'd return again as the food was decent and it's a cute...
Read moreI have been going to Dilly’s for over 30 years. Lately the food quality has dipped as well as portion size. My largest complaint is the service. The help behind the counter is not friendly or welcoming and the posted hours are always wrong. In the last year I have gone three times when their hours have been posted as open on Google and they were in fact closed. Today was the last straw. Hours posted as open, no sign in the lot, and employees cleaning in the kitchen. I stood around for a few minutes making sure my eye contact with said employees. No one came up to say they were closed. It’s truly not hard to change your posted hours on Google and it’s even easier to at least say sorry when you are making eye contact. Such a shame but that will be the last time I go to Dilly’s; especially because the food quality and portions have gone down but the prices...
