El Buen Gusto Grill & Catering — Restaurant in Soledad

This place is the definition of sometimes good things come in small packages. Set up next to a park in a little kitchen Enclave attached to a pickup truck, this place made some really good food. Stopped here when at on 101 south and looking for a local spot to try near not to far from the highway after refueling. Menu was more robust then anticipated, having a good selection of traditional Mexican dishes and different varieties of hot dogs dishes. We got the asada quesadilla and birria tacos. The meat for both was seasoned and not tough or grizzled. The tortillas not overly heavy and paired perfectly with their salsa that had nice lime flavor to it. Birria tacos were excellent and sauce subtle but rich. No dedicated parking due to the nature of the park. We visited for the first time, and wow—everything was amazing! My daughter got the bacon-wrapped hot dog with fries, and she absolutely loved it. My husband ordered the Quesabirria meal, and he couldn’t stop raving about how tasty and flavorful it was. I decided to try the pambazo, and I’ll be honest. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. But from the very first bite, I was hooked! The bread was perfectly toasted, and the amount of queso fresco was just right. Every bite was delicious!

And I have to mention the homemade lemonade, so refreshing! The balance was perfect, not overly sweet like so many places tend to make it. It was insanely good and the perfect drink to go with our meal.

We are definitely coming back. The food, flavors, and quality were all top-notch....
