Solon, City BBQ stands out as a culinary destination that captivates both barbecue aficionados and casual diners alike.
From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere that truly blessed me.
The first thing that I noticed at City BBQ is the sense of teamwork among the staff.
Carmen, the general manager, and her management team too, I think justifiably, sets a standard that is reflected in the attitudes and performance of the support staff.
From the host who welcomes you with a smile to the servers who are both attentive and knowledgeable, every member of the team plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience for every guest.
This level of service not only enhances your meal but also creates a sense of community within the restaurant. I love when staff greets me by calling me by my name.
The brisket is a standout dish, boasting a perfect smoke ring and an unparalleled tenderness that simply melts in your mouth. It's seasoned to perfection, allowing the rich, beefy flavor to shine through, complemented by just the right amount of spice.
The ribs deserve special mention as well, as they are my favorite meal. I open the wrapping to find consistency in the glistening with a caramelized glaze that hints at the sweet and smoky flavors to come.
Each bite is a delightful explosion of taste, with the meat falling effortlessly off the bone. The combination of the smoky exterior and the juicy interior creates a harmonious balance that leaves you craving more, that has me visiting multiple times during the month
The mac and cheese is a creamy, indulgent masterpiece, with a rich cheese sauce enveloping perfectly cooked pasta. It’s the kind of comfort food that feels like a warm hug, providing a delightful contrast to the smoky meats.
What truly elevates the experience at City BBQ is the impeccable service. From the moment you enter, or pull into the drive thru, the staff is attentive without being intrusive, making sure my food order needs are met. They are well-versed in the menu and eager to provide recommendations, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned regular.
This level of care helps create a relaxed atmosphere where I keep coming back, over and over.
In conclusion, City BBQ Solon is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates flavorful barbecue in a welcoming environment. With its exceptional food, dedicated management, and attentive staff, this restaurant exemplifies what it means to provide an outstanding dining experience. City Barbecue, or I just call it TheCity, unapologetically is the epitome of what comfort...
Read moreThis is for the location at 6772 SOM Center Rd only. Overall staff was friendly! When I visited on 6/15 around 120pm the taller lady that was a manager had what I interpreted as an unpleasant demeanor. Meaning she wasn't outright unfriendly, but her demeanor, body language and the way she moved when she worked said otherwise. I guess what I would call as unapproachable. The rest of the staff was nice! Workers kept cleaning the eating area, so that was clean, restrooms clean! Now the food! Let's say my family dines at City BBQ in Canton, Ohio FREQUENTLY (so we have a good comparison on how the food should taste), but this was out first time at this location. Food was a one star! We got pulled chicken sandwiches, fries, hush puppies, chicken tenders, banana pudding and potato salad. The pulled chicken sandwiches tasted like someone poured an entire box of salt in the mixture (and I'm a salt-a-holic)! The chicken was unusually moist/wet and runny. In turn, the buns were soggy like a wet sponge! Whatever extra salt they didn't put in the pulled chicken, they used it on the fries....you can see the salt just pilled on the fries...which by the way, the portion size of fries is a complete joke for the price (in all fairness, I know this isn't a store issue, but more of corporate greed with "portion control"). I literally counted and only had 13 fries as what they deem an "order". The tenders needed to be cooked much longer, they were "soft and bendable". On one positive note, the hush puppies, potato salad and banana pudding were good)...the crazy part is, they came around and asked how the food was and I showed them the soggy, salt filled sandwich and the salt sitting on the fries. Told them the food was way too salty...all she said was "oh" ..then said they would bring us more fries.. they never came...we were in between a softball tournament and had to leave...threw about 75% of the food away...took a few bites of the sandwiches...threw 2 whole tenders away...basically a waste of money for my family...an expensive...
Read moreI recently visited the City Barbeque on the west side of SOM Center Road in Solon, Ohio. It is mid-June, 2022, they have been opened for a few weeks. There is plenty of free off-street parking at this location. They have a drive-thru plus they offer curbside pick-up. They have an outside covered dining patio.
I chose to eat inside. The bathroom and the restaurant are very clean. The staff are very friendly. I ordered the Smoked Sausage Sandwich with one sausage topped with coleslaw on a slice of Texas Toast. The smoked sausage has great flavor requiring no need for additional barbeque sauce in my opinion. All barbecue sauces come on the side.
On Tuesday's in June, City Barbeque offers a deal on single ribs. I ordered two seperate ribs. The ribs have a nice flavor to the meat. The ribs could be meatier. There are one or two meaty bites per rib. The remainder of each rib are not too meaty. I was scraping the meat off the bone with my teeth versus the one or two meaty bites per rib. I could not see the smoke ring on each rib since the ribs are so thin on meat. I, also, asked for a serving of City Barbeque's original barbeque sauce and and a serving of their fire barbeque sauce. I put the original barbeque sauce on one of the ribs. I used the fire sauce on the other rib. Both sauces are tasty.
Great tasting food for a fast food restaurant. While I was eating several curbside orders were delivered and a couple of cars came through the drive-thru. A few folks came inside to pick-up takeaway orders too. A good volume of business for a newly opened City Barbeque. If I am in the area, I will return City Barbeque in...
