KFC — Restaurant in Somerset

First off before reviewing somerset's KFC I must note that I was also employed there for less than half a day. I as a critic cannot keep a credible reputation without admitting personal investment. I will do my best to display fairness but also note that it is why I chose to review.

This is to those who debate on applying or have family or friend doing so.

My first impression was the clean front area and it's professional environment

My second was the manager who was also very professional and extremely kind as well as forthcoming about any questions I had in the interview.

My third and the reason for its 3 star rating is the fact but nobody seemed to know what they were doing and everything was absolutely unorganized in the back. The management office was filthy and cluttered, communication was sparse, and confusion seemed to be the lifeblood of the day. There was no formality, some of the employees didn't wear gloves and even kept in a dip when preparing the batter. Nobody knew what to do with or where to put the trainee group, and nobody seemed to care. We stood around waiting eagerly for duty as we got pushed aside, dragged around the kitchen, and faintly shown around in the end, untill finally

"OH yeah y'all need to watch these training videos"

When it came time for break communication about how to clock in and out was so bad and so brief between three different people talking to us that I didn't even know how, even after asking.

We where brushed off time and time again in the hurrying Sprint of everyone around us. It seemed they where unprepared to train or hire. By far the worst communication skills I've witnessed in any team anyplace Ive been.

Anxity inducing and stressful, I just walked home about my 5th time asking how to clock in from break.

SAD experience. When I was a kid, KFC was something to look forward to. We stopped going quite a while ago when it became apparent you had to mortgage your house to buy a bucket of chicken. They are now offering a free bucket of chicken with a $15 MOBILE order. We thought, well maybe it's time to give them another try, bad idea. We walked in and they could not find our order, I had to show the receipt on my phone. We waited and waited while people that walked in and ordered after us were served and walking out with their food. Finally when we did get our food, we had no drinks( we ordered combo meals). The guy behind the counter eventually brought us two pre filled drinks. I asked "how did you know what drinks we wanted" ? I asked for just two empty cups and gave the drinks back. Finally after another wait, we got our empty cups. Now on to the food. We both ordered chicken sandwich combo meals. Mine was the spicy one, it had about a thimble full of sauce, and the chicken was dry and tough. Literally the worst chicken sandwich I have had in Somerset, of all the places that serve chicken sandwiches. Kind of Ironic. Needless to say we will NOT be back.*UPDATE from yesterday. DO NOT fall for the free 8 PC bucket scam. Its garbage. If you want it, you have to order the same time you order the $15 worth of food or YOU DO NOT GET IT. That was NEVER stipulated, anywhere. No coupon, no rewards in the mobile app. NOTHING. And DO NOT bother calling customer service. I was on hold for like 30 minutes after being transferred 3 times. Done with KFC FOREVER. Hopefully this makes others aware...

Placed my order online, was given the time of 5:08 for it to be ready, I arrived at 5:20. I was pulled past the window to the end of the curb, told they were still working on part of my order. I waited and saw the line was moving pretty steady behind me. A car was pulled up behind me and got their food before mine, I had been waiting 16 minutes, they waited 4 minutes. They finally brought my food to my and I was missing a complete kids meal and my drinks. They got that to me pretty quickly. All together I was there for 28 minutes waiting on my food they were “making fresh” I had two chicken sandwiches, 10 nuggets, a small bowl of Mac and cheese, a small fry, and two 5 piece kids meals with fries. It took me 12-15 minutes to get home and by the time I got home all my food was ice cold and tough to even bite through.
