We have given this place many chances over the years and unfortunately today was our last day eating here. It surprises me how a sandwich can be made wrong right in front of the customer but it happened. A sandwich I just picked up for my wife was completely covered in black pepper. We didn't order black pepper and if we did it definitely wouldn't have been that much. As a matter of fact, this specific sandwich i read the order from a list for while I was ordering it and pepper is not on that list.
We've had experiences with slimy vegetables in the past, stale bread, etc. but looked past it and came back to exchange for a better quality sandwich because we know this place employs the kids in our town and we try to support small business even through mistakes. At this point Somerset Subway has cost us enough money on mistakes than we're just going to have to be done with them.
On top of our incorrect order, one of the people working there today looked like he was barely awake and was moving slow enough for me to notice something was off. It felt uncomfortable and awkward standing in front of him. I won't make accusations but it looked concerning and management should check into that.
I regret tipping 20% after this. The only reason I did is because its almost Christmas and I was trying to take into consideration they're working the day before Christmas Eve.
I'm giving 2 stars for service because there is one woman that works there that has great customer service. I don't know if she still works there but wanted to highlight that...
Read moreThe staff has improved, the food is always good, its a sandwich. The price.. if this hasn't been said enough by everyone who buys anything these days. Prices are too high, but I can live with it. My issue is the tipping question, I just spent $24 on 2 turkey sandwichs, with only mayo. Now the machine is going to make me feel almost obligated, or I'm the jerk if I don't tip 20%. You want your employees tipped, leave the jar out that was good enough. Don't make me say no, as the employee stares at me. And I know they are in the food industry they can get tips, I'm sure slicing open a sub, asking me 2 questions qualifies you to get tipped in today's world. Regardless do the customer a favor, since we are spending $50 for a meal, get rid of the tip feature on the machine. Love the store doing a great job, Boston is very...
Read moreWe were visiting Somerset for a basketball tournament. Our team needed lunch so my wife and I stopped in to try to get a bunch of subs made simply and quickly. They didn’t have the bread made yet or the veggies prepped at 11:15am. The one employee I dealt with didn’t seem remotely interested in making sandwiches for us. We took our business next door to the local grocery store and bought $150 worth of groceries to make our own lunches. We probably would’ve spent more at Subway but they weren’t ready...
