I just realized with absolute horror that I never wrote a Google review for my most favorite momo restaurant in the US. Tasty Momo has been on my must-visit list for Boston ever since so many people recommended it to me on social media.
I had the joy of meeting the lovely owner, Sophie, and I have to say I am incredibly proud of her. She opened this beautiful restaurant on her own and has kept it going for years, consistently serving incredible food. It is woman owned and filled with heart. So much admiration for her courage, warmth, and dedication.
We tried almost everything on the menu. The pani poori was absolutely delicious. The chicken momo was outstanding. The pork momo was the juiciest I have ever had. I could not stop eating them. My two little girls were equally obsessed. Momo has always been one of my favorite foods and the momo here is, without a doubt, the very best I have had.
Sophie also made two types of chowmein for us. A regular chicken chowmein for the adults, and a special version for my little girls with just chicken, as they prefer no vegetables. That thoughtful gesture meant so much. My daughters still talk about Sophie and her amazing noodles. The chowmein had that perfect wok hey I always look for — that magical flavor you only get from a well-seasoned wok and expert hands. It was divine.
Then I had the traditional Nepali Thakali set with goat. It comes with dal bhat and a beautiful variety of sides. My soul was completely satisfied. Every bite felt like a warm hug. The goat was perfectly tender and flavorful, the saag was fresh, the mula ko achar was tangy and crunchy, and the Thakali dal was the highlight for me. I do not think I have had a more comforting and delicious dal anywhere else. Now I truly understand why it is so beloved.
Tasty Momo already won me over with the food, but Sophie’s kind hospitality made our visit unforgettable. She welcomed my family with such care, and made my daughters feel seen and special. That kind of warmth stays with you.
I recommend Tasty Momo with all my heart. This place is a true gem, and Sophie’s passion shines through in every dish. If you are ever in Boston, do...
Read moreComparing to ALL the others nepalese restaurants out there, I had the worst experience visiting this nepali restaurant in Somerville. The young girl who is a receptionist/cashier is extremely rude and loves to talk behind customers back. She didn’t like it when I told her how the liquid sauce for the pani puri was missing as you need the liquid sauce to enjoy the meal and without the liquid sauce the meal is incomplete and you just simply cannot enjoy the meal that was ordered. The girl who is a cashier there did not like me mentioning that and immediately thought I was being “cool” and that I’m someone who thinks they’re “cool” when all I was trying to do was let them know how they had missed the major part of my meal that’s all, in a kind and positive way. There’s no need to be rude and talk behind a customers back saying how I was being “cool” when all I was doing was just giving positive feedback about what had happened to my meal so that they were aware of it. The cashier girl working there has a huge attitude problem, is very rude and loves to judge customers that walks in. She’s a perfect example of a rude employee who doesn’t know anything about basic business customer service protocol. Strongly advise to go to other nepalese restaurants out there in Boston if you don’t want to get judged when you walk in and overall for better quality nepalese food that’s far more tasty to fulfill your complete nepalese dining...
Read moreI visited this restaurant last night and found it to be poorly managed. The family running the business did not care about the large number of people waiting in line for food. Orders were taking in excess of 45 minutes to come out the kitchen. My order for a soup and heated dumplings took 40 minutes. I counted about 10 people waiting for food angry at the person behind the counter. They were all pissed because over 80% of them called in a phone order and expected it to be ready when they arrived. And they still waited this long. This person could care less as well. Grandma was just sitting there making dumplings in the back and not working. After a while she just left.
The place was filthy inside as well. The two table's were not cleaned. So nobody had a clean place to sit while they were waiting for 45 minutes to get food. The floor was sticky which is never a good sign in a restaurant. As for the food, seriously, nothing special. The noodle soup tasted bland and the dumplings, even though they were fresh, tasted like what you would buy at a Chinese supermarket in the frozen food isle.
My advice to all who are looking for a place to eat in this area or are thinking about calling up and placing a order, no mater what web discount you may get. SAVE YOUR MONEY. ...
