Antojitos is the type of restaurant Boston needs more of.
Opened about 2 years ago, Antojitos serves dominican comfort food.
Shout out to Ceasar and everyone who works at Antojitos. This place definitely has a family home cooking vibe that I think we can all appreciate.
We ordered the lunch special ($15) for a plate of rice (white or yellow pigeon pea rice) and a meat (at the time there was braised beef, pork, and chicken), a beef empanada ($3) fried green plantains with sauce ($4) and a roast pork + ham Cuban sandwich ($15)
The lunch plate -
omg this is pure comfort food. As an Asian American, I don’t have as much experience with Latin food as I wished, but the parallels between the love in food are undeniable.
I chose the yellow rice with chicken and wow just look at how many scoops of delicious rice they’re putting into the plate. Even the way Ceasar ladles the juice from the chicken on to the plate is nothing but pure love and an forgotten level of hospitality. Incredible value and flavor.
Cuban sandwich-
My fiancé also requested a Cuban sandwich and wow this was good. You get 2 different kinds of pork (roast pork + ham), cheese with pickles and I believe some kind of slaw. All flavors were in perfect harmony. I often feel that the biggest sin a sandwich can commit is having too much bread and this Cuban nails the bread ratio perfectly. It came out hot, heavy, and toasted 😇. Great value!
We also ordered a beef empanada and the fried green plantains. The empanada was just as you’d expect crispy on the outside and savory + rich ground beef on the inside. This is a lay up for them. The green plantains were fried to order and crispy with a soft delicious inside. I wouldn’t complain if there was more sauce tho ☺️.
Final thoughts - I’m already planning my next visit. This is food that you will crave and will satisfy...
Read moreI went there because I saw it on TikTok and the food looked sooo good! It’s literally a hole in the wall type of place but with a homie feel to it. The Service was okay, wish they where a bit more friendly in the sense of smiling more and socializing more it was more like “just give me your order” so I ordered 2 beef chimis , one ham & cheese sandwich, one burger with fries, one order of tostones and longanisa, one lunch special which had yellow rice and stewed chicken. And a Tres golpes. And 4 drinks it came to a total of $112 now.. at first I thought holy crap!! But since it was my birthday I paid with no complaints. lol sooo the star of the show was the 2 beef chimis and the ham n cheese sandwich the burger was just ok rice and chicken was good. The tostones and Loganiza was so so .. it was a very small portion . The tres golpes was what we were looking forward to and it was a huge disappointment. It was a huge serving for sure but soooooo bland .. it had very lil pickled onions (which gives it even more flavor) salami not the best choice for the price the fried cheese was good 👍 very disappointed with that dish. Would I go back there??? Yes absolutely 💯 because Them chimis are like I’ve never had before...
