My family tried a variety of menu items and all of them were flavorful, seemed fresh, and were filling portions. The only bad thing was the thumb-sized piece of fat or gristle that was inside a carnitas burrito. This kind of thing happens when working with fresh meat, but it was an unpleasant bite for one of my family members.
Menu items are a bit pricey, I think, but portions are large, so it's all relative. Speaking of the menu, I'd love to know who was in charge of proofreading that thing before it was printed ("beberages" instead of "beverages", rice "pudin" instead of "pudding", "cocacola" instead of "Coca Cola", "plane" churros instead of "plain"). Haha! Funny, but pretty unprofessional, especially for a chain restaurant. These misspellings probably won't bother most people, but for we pedants, it's anxiety-inducing. 😆
Patience is key. Though it's a small chain (Sacramento-based company with under 20 locations), they seem to be having trouble working out kinks in service. Drive-through times can be frustrating, according to what others are saying, so I went inside to order. I still waited about 35 minutes for my food (3 burritos, 2 combo platters). The staff members that I dealt with were polite and friendly.
Beverages are behind the counter, so it doesn't appear that refills are offered if you dine in, as they are at most chain restaurants these days. They do offer free chips and salsa with every food order on Saturdays and Sundays. The hot red salsa was quite good.
The place seems clean, though they didn't do much remodeling inside the old Burger King building. Those of us who are locals remember the long-standing sewage and plumbing problems that plagued that building. We have to wonder whether it's really been fixed or just patched. I didn't smell anything while I was there, which I'll take as a good sign. What I could see of the kitchen equipment looked in good repair and clean. The floors were clean, as well.
Surprisingly, the old children's play room is there still, though it's locked and the windows are covered. It looks as if they did not bother to dismantle and remove the old, awful, dirty, stinking play equipment inside that room. Hopefully, they have future plans to convert that space to dining or something else. I hope they don't plan to reopen the...
Read moreIf I could I would give zero stars. My sister and I bought 4 tacos at 1.99 each a fry and 2 drinks. We get order pull over to eat and missing 2 tacos. Drove back through and explained and showed receipt girl at window took receipt came back with a box . We took it and parked then only 1 taco in box. Drove back through becausewe paid for 4 tacos and tried to explain that again and she insisted that we did t even tho the receipt showed 7.96 for 4 tacos. She said if we wanted another we would have to pay. We said we already paid. She still insisted we have to pay for 4th taco. And the 3rd taco they gave us was a dark almost burnt shell with little meat and lettuce if that nothing like the first 2. She was very rude and not pleasant at all. Will not be going back. At least at Taco Bell they apologize and give you what you are missing and something extra. So back to Taco Bell we will go. Much better service and staff there anyways. This was around 11:15 afternoon staff. This was the Sonora one that...
Read moreBeen wanting to try the place out since they first opened.. well went for the first time today, had a car full of kids so we went to the drive-through. Sat there for 10 minutes and no one was taking our order.. then finally I hear through the speaker " sigh what can I get you".. so I shrugged it off and just ordered.. then I asked a question for there to be absolutely no response.. so I waited again for another 5 minutes.. NOTHING.. so i pull forward and then the car behind immediately gets their order taken. I pull up to the window and everyone just stood there and stared at me.. wouldn't open the window or help me at all. I don't understand what was going on but they obviously didn't want to take my order. So we just went to Taco Bell instead. Definitely won't be going...
