Lacopo's Pizzeria — Restaurant in South Bend

I needed a quick bite to eat before going to the SBD airport. I try very hard to eat local when travelling all over the US, so when I found this 'hole-in-the-wall' I knew I had to try it.

Frank was exceptionally welcoming, and offered to make a whole pie for me, and eat the other half himself for lunch since he didn't have any non-meat slices to sell at the time. He made a wonderful pie and we had a great conversation while it was cooking.

They are local siblings who are using what their dad taught them to make some of the best Pizza you can find in the area. Refreshing to get fresh hand made dough and ingredients. The homemade sausage has a little kick but just enough and it is perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the sauce. The homemade crust is always crunchy and perfectly cut. Wonderful mom and pop place. Absolutely love their calzones! They also have good sized slices available, at least during lunch. Order well ahead of time for lunch (we give them at least 40 min, as I imagine it takes a bit of time to cook, and in case they're busy), head over to pick up your order, and enjoy!
