American Diner fare at it's best! We have been grabbing a quick bite for yrs now since we moved to the area, frequent flyers of breakfast, lunch and dinner. All delivered with the same friendly smiles.
We made our first visit in after reading a negative review yrs ago from an out of town patron about the amount of gravy served on their food.... we headed right over!
THIS IS SOUTHERN COMFORT FOOD, cold drinks are served in Mason jars, food is good, its fresh and made to order; just order it how YOU want it! Be but assured the place loves its bacon, sausage, biscuits, butter, gravy, burgers, (fresh) fried chicken, fries, and "taters" of all kinds, just as much as its patrons! Staying true to its roots serving sizes and prices will have you leaving bellies and wallets full!
Family of three can enjoy a quick bite for less than a fast food. Ditch the drive thru, enjoy the Diner!
Tips: 1)For breakfast ask for the apple butter, its not on the table and doesnt come from a packet. 2) Fried chicken, whether its chicken fried chicken breakfast, or fried chicken dinner, it takes a moment to prepare.. for all the right reasons! Allow for a few extra minutes for your food to arrive (wait staff will inform you) or call your order in ahead. 3) If theres a wait, typical for breakfast, put your name down... 10 minutes, this is a diner, turn over without rushing patrons is...
Read moreThe breakfast was just ok. I do like they had a senior menu but it wasn't quite enough to fill me up. I had 2 eggs over easy, a sausage patty and biscuit. The cost was in the $8 to $9 range. The place was very busy when I got there with a line to get in. Being by myself I was offered a seat at the counter which I gladly took. After ordering it took over 30 min to get my order. I won't be going back if it's just as busy as it was. I understand that they just hired 2nd cook to keep up with the demand. I think they may need a third at this point!
My latest review 11/2/2022. Went there for breakfast. The food was delicious, but I wasn't happy with the new prices. We were charged .80 cents to have onions in our breakfast potatoes. They have also started charging a fee to use a credit card for payment. Got the Fiesta Scrambler and they counted the burrito wrap as a side. I thought that being it was a Mexican breakfast they would throw the 3 small wraps in as part of my breakfast. Instead I was charged an extra $3.00 for my breakfast side of my breakfast potatoes. My breakfast ended up being $33.00 without tip for 2 people with only one person having coffee. Almost $40.00 with tip is outrageous. We won't be back. Try the 5th Season diner a half mile down the road where 2 people can have a breakfast for under...
Read moreWHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT !!! I always stop at Cragers when I am traveling to the Sarasota area. Have eaten there for many years . I stopped there this morning for the first time in several months . First thing I noticed is that the place was under "NEW OWNERSHIP". I asked the server when it was sold and he said it was purchased by the new owners in March of 2025. Not thinking anything of it, I ordered plain pancakes and a side of crisp bacon. Now mind you , when I walked in, I was the only customer there. In short, I waited 35 minutes before the food came out . I was brough 3 "pancakes" if you could call them that. No bacon at all. The pancakes were grossly overcooked and one was broken in several pieces. They had the texture of rubber. Unfortunately I had wasted enough time waiting for this "meal" and told the server I was leaving. I offered to pay for the cup of coffee I had but he declined. WHoever was in the kitchen was not a cook by any means . Looks like the new owners have ruined what was a great local place for home cooked food . I wont be back again and if they continue to serve food like they served me, I doubt they will be open for very long. They will play off the stellar reputation of the old Cragers for a while but that will wear off...
