Bagel Market Deli & Grill — Restaurant in South Brunswick

I have been going to this bagel market since they opened at least a couple years ago. The bagels are usually very good and the place is always packed during peak hours.. They put another bagel place right down the street out of business with their more effective operation. The thing that has always irritated me is that whenever I go in, I always get the same thing and it is always different price!!! When I first ordered, I went to the register to pay and the lady was on her phone, looked at me and walked away to do something else. I waited for a minute and decided to pay after eating. I again waited till she had time,(she was just flipping through her phone,) I walked up to her and she again walked away. To my amazement she was showing something on her phone to everyone behind the counter. At this point I was very irritated and called behind the bar to have SOMEONE ring me up. She came back and rung me up. Of course as usual, a new higher price was charged again. I came back to the register and tried to explain my situation and she insisted that she was right. I asked her to check with the manager and she said she was the owner. Let's hope for the future of the business, this is not true. I can't remember myself getting so upset about something so easily solved. When ownership allows something to get out of hand like that, there is no need to ever deal with them again. I certainly will not be back, and will let those who ask, know about my feelings about this...

I love the breakfast sandwiches and bagels - I’m not a fan of the customer service.

The woman who works behind the cashier was so rude to me this past Tuesday morning. I was waiting for a bacon, egg, and cheese with salt, pepper, and ketchup on a roll. Two other people were waiting too, one who ordered before me, and one after.

She calls out an order that’s ready. Not certain if it’s my bacon, egg, and cheese, I wait a beat to see if anyone else waiting makes a move. No one does, so I presume it to be mine. As I’m walking out to my car in the lot, I hear someone yell “HELLOOOO.” I immediately go back to her in the storefront and she asks if I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese with salt, pepper, ketchup on an egg bagel. I say no, I got that but on a roll. And she very haughtily says, “then why would you take this??” To which I say …”I obviously didn’t hear you.” Why on earth would I purposefully take someone’s egg bagel? I couldn’t believe her tone, the accusation, and the assumption that I purposefully did something wrong.

It might sound trivial, but it really left a bad taste in my mouth. We all have bad days - I was having one in fact. But we don’t have to take it out on each other. There are multiple complaints in the reviews about this same woman. I understand there is a labor shortage, but she’s turning customers away - including this long...

Stop by for a quick to go breakfast on a Saturday morning, for locals they know it’s always quite busy on weekend mornings, and for good reasons. I was flabbergasted and astonished to see all the new process improvements made by the new owner, Kudos!!! I had left a prior review (now removed), having shared a not so positive experience, I can assure that the processes have vastly changed!! I can even say this was the quickest we had ever received our food during a very packed weekend morning. Also for other Muslims, the owner himself took my order and when I asked for halal, he walked over to the grill confirmed it with the cook himself, the cook then took a clean pan out to make our food. (From a business perspective, I cannot blame them for utilizing all the grills spaces for their customers order during a rush time, and was surprised & very appreciative for them to still have a process for halal during such times, So truly thank you for that!!!) It was great seeing how busy the place was, and the owner kept his team following processes while joking and laughing, keeping the mode light during the mad-house rush. You have regained a customer and I hope the place continues...
