I highly recommend! I love coming to this diner. This is a NJ diner staple. Servers and staff are very friendly and make you feel more at home then a patron in an eatery. That is hard to come by. A mother-daughter team working there always offers great conversation and makes all feel welcome. Today Mary took care of us and she was beyond sweet to all of her guests. I usually take out, pretty much daily, but dining in is great, relaxing, and enjoyable.
Items Ordered on Recent Visit: -Steak & Eggs -French Onion Soup -Greek Salad -Chicken Fajita Wrap To Go: -Quart Chicken Soup -Disco Fries
Pros: Their soups are great. I usually buy one of their chicken by the quart daily. The Onion Soup has good flavor and is not packed with cheese. I wanted more. Steak & Eggs was awesome. My husband said that his strip steak was really tender and very good. It is served w/ Hash Browns and Toast. The Greek Salad is huge and fresh. It is now part of my lunch for tomorrow. The Chicken Fajita Wrap was tender and gratifying. It is served w/ a large portion of French Fries & Coke Slaw and a pickle. This is also apart of the next day’s lunch. Love the Disco Fries. I literally eat them almost daily. Fair pricing for large and tasty portions. The Diner really seems to care about it’s customers. Other Items Ordered in the Past: Burgers are really savory and enjoyable. Milkshakes are large and delightful. Potato Skins are also very good. You can also ask for what you want on them and they will accommodate. Buffalo Chicken Wrap & Hoagie. My only complaint is that I wish it...
Read moreMy family and I ordered food for pickup. I ordered a chicken gyro but what I got was not a chicken gyro. What I got were scraps of pita from what usually comes with a Greek salad, dry chicken that was not even cut up, instead just haphazardly placed on my sad pieces of pita, and no lettuce or tomato. I'm surprised they remembered to include the tzatziki sauce. The fries were cold and stale and extremely dense. My boyfriend ordered the triple decker bacon cheeseburger sandwich and the bread wasn't even toasted. The meat tasted very sketch and looked old. The lettuce on the sandwich was very wet and the bread got very soggy. He immediately felt sick after eating. My boyfriend's mom got the California cheeseburger and they had left off all the vegetables and put the cheese on both sides of the patty, which stuck to the bun and was unable to open the sandwich to put on condiments and vegetables. My boyfriend's sister got the veggie burger and the preparation was the same as the California burger, cheese on both sides of the patty that stuck to the bun and unable to open the sandwich. Everyone felt sick afterwards and had very bad diarrhea. Such a let down, especially after hearing such good things about this establishment. It was a birthday dinner for my boyfriend's mom but nobody was happy, especially the birthday girl. Boo Franklin Park Diner. Not a great first...
Read moreFranklin Diner is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite to eat or to sit down with some friends and enjoy the meal. I ordered the pastrami Reuben, which came with a side of fries and a pickle. I sat down and enjoyed my meal on Monday, March 25. The diner is located in Franklin, with plenty of parking available in the lot out front. It was also 5 pm on a Monday, so not the busiest time. The service was excellent as I was greeted by Laura, my server, who catered to all my needs during my dining experience. Laura was attentive, checking in a couple of times and making sure I had everything I needed. The wait to get seated was none, and the wait to receive my food must have been under 10 minutes. The sandwich was packed with tender, smoky pastrami, melted Swiss, tangy sauerkraut, and just the right amount of Russian dressing, all grilled between slices of crispy rye bread. The fries were hot and crispy, exactly how they should be, and the pickle added a nice crunch on the side. I’d be lying if I said it was my first time at Franklin Dinner, but they never seem to disappoint. I'm not sure if Franklin Diner offers gluten-free options, but their menu didn’t seem to highlight any; I could be wrong. I asked about student discounts, and they confirmed that they don’t offer one for Rutgers students. Can’t wait to make it back to...
