Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in South Brunswick

Never one to leave a review but I felt this was necessary. My mother is unfortunately not doing well with her battle with stage 3 cancer. Right now, it’s the little things that mean the world to her and for right now, it seems to be the same for me as well. Tonight my mother was craving one of her favorites, Rita’s! When I got to the window and gave my order to the woman working (large vanilla custard with chocolate sprinkles and a cone on the side) she asked me very politely, if the order was for me? I replied saying no, it was for my mother. She then asked me if I was sure I didn’t want anything and even though it was very hard to say no “on a diet” I did and told her nope, just the custard! She proceeded to put 2 cones and 2 spoons in the bag, packed it so nicely and then told me that I am a good son and that my mom is lucky to have me. I don’t need any recognition for what I do for my mom, but let me tell you when you are at your lowest and a complete stranger shows genuine kindness and compassion it hits different! Went to visit for our first ice cream experience of spring at the South Brunswick Rita’s location and were extremely disappointed. I ordered a sundae with wet walnuts and was told they didn’t have any, ok—-no biggie. I ordered a gelati and asked for a little more custard than shaved ice and was told there would be an up charge for that—-understandable. Then we ordered a mix of coffee and vanilla custard and received the tiniest amount possible. I could not believe my eyes when she handed us the cup of custard. We go to this so often. We were used to receiving amazing customer service from s person named shreya who does not seem to work there. We are used to people being so courteous that even if we did a mistake, they would beyond to satisfy us..

But today was the most horrible customer service to date.. we placed the order for a cup... she gave me a cone and gave an attitude that it was our mistake. She charged 99 cents each for 2 wafer cup. Overall she was just a person whom i did not want spoil my day over. So if u get stupid people like her.. just deal with them properly. She spoilt the evening when we normally look forward to buy icecream.. what...
